I'll be cutting them so they don't stick above the side of the car which is just under the shoulder wings and follow a curving profile, you can just about make out a curving line on the r/h seat, mmmm orange bugger already got black vinyl (and yellow piping). Yep supplied by a reputable manufacture, totally covered in dust, only the 2nd set the first ones went to a chittychitty bangbang spyder, which should be on Garys web site before long I can't remeber if I took an oath of secrecy on that item, as when they find time when I got there they was in the cafe ...PAT

Does Skippy have rear reflectors fitted, this was a point that came up today while researching lighting options, seemingly they are a requirement on all vehicles but I haven't seen a Sammio yet with them. Wondered how you got on with the MOT if you dont have them.

No car, regardless of its age, should be able to pass the MOT without a matched pair of rear reflectors fitted:
Struggled to find the exact bit of legislation but a couple of classic car sites refer to 50mm as a minimum for a car but diddy ones acceptable for a motorcycle.
Hi everyone, had a day out with Skippy at the classic and restoration show, spent quite a while talking about Skip a lot of interest could generate a few orders had the contact info on the car. Now the sad bit got home on the back of a recovery truck Skip dumped £15 worth antifrezze on the A303 cooking the head gasket at the same time, still time for a cooling rethink got a few weeks as she's booked in for paint over xmas so I'm looking at radiators again and there's a 1500 engine on fleabay cheap at mo, 5 miles away "so onwards and upwards" I just love it still got a stupid grin on my face from the 100 odd miles I did do ....PAT
Did it boil over on the move or while you were stuck in traffic?
Without wishing to try to teach an old dog to suck eggs in the bush, I take it you've flushed your engine and radiator, fitted a new thermostat as a precautionary measure, sited the temperature gauge where you can actually see it and upgraded to a thermostatically controlled electric fan?
Might be worth checking that your header tank is plumbed in right too. Having run an old beetle a few years back I can assure you that air doesn't cool as efficiently as water unless you're going mach 2. lane:
sorry to hear about skippy, try and steer clear of a 1500 engine pat, they werent very good and very lumpy,the 1300 was the best. try and phone dave up @ spitfire grave yard,see if he`s got any 1300 or any idea`s. if ya need any help fitting give me a ring, i drive down.
Yep, already made my mind up, just going to redo Skippy's engine the parts needed are a fraction of the price of any engines and it' a simple job ordering they bits from Canleys in the morning back running next weekend. I didn't notice the temp gauge as I was shading my eyes (must get a flap on me helmet, ooo matron). The worst bit is the price of oil and antifreeze I'd just flushed the system and filled with pure antifreeze couldn't find any in a skip, ha ha ha, thanx for the offer Gary (mulberry), cheers. PAT
pat ive got plenty of aunty`s that are freezing this time of year, want one, thats if you need more aunty`-freeze....i should let the dear old sole in doors....
Hi one and all, with the head off and inspections carried out it was my fault I should have retorqued the head bolts down they didn't take much undoing. The water got boiled off and they oil pushed into the cooling system via the area between cylinders 2 and 3 so flush again the cooling system and clean the gasket surfaces now awaiting parts, topend gasket set, thermostate, and oil filter then a shake down at the weekend fingers crossed. Just gone over the way she's plumbed in and it all checks out the only fault I can find is those head bolts with luck theres no other damage we shall see,,,PAT
Hopefully you've been quite lucky and nothing more sinister has happened, they're solid heads so should'nt be any distortion! Maybe you're nuts were only slightly loose.
