Son's High School prom earlier tonight so I provided transport -
Shame I didn't get the paint to a standard where I was happy to refit all the roundels, but it didn't look too shabby and son enjoyed the experience despite the scowl in the second picture. Wife took the pictures, have advised her not to give up the day job...
Okay, so it looks like photobucket no longer allows pictures to be posted on third party websites without the customer paying a subscription. Sod that, will have to find a free alternative.

Very disappointed with Photobucket. All the pictures I've ever posted on madabout have now vanished and it'd be weeks of work to move them all from photobucket to a different server then re-upload each image to the correct thread on here, so it looks like they're effectively all gone.
What happens if you click on one of the photobucket gauge images? Does it take you to my album, do nothing or divert you somewhere else?
Oh, and yes, I've grown a chin warmer and now look like King Edward VII. I'd post comparison pictures but...
Are you using a clear coat on top of the paint or what paint are you using?
Have you tried polishing it back?
I bought a polishing machine for less than £50 on Ebay which I use with Farecla G3 paste. With the new paste you can use it dry, this makes clean up very much easier and you don't spray everything in a 50 foot radius.
I have a Mitsubishi GTO in red, it is one of those colours that fades to a matt pink and makes the car look as if it is destined to the scrap heap, an hours mopping and all the shine and colour is brought back, so much so that you
honestly wouldn't recognise it.
Could be worth a go on yours before repainting, just have a go on a small section. Once you have had a polishing mop you will be amazed that you ever managed without one.
Photobucket has been getting very slow recently, so slow that I was intending to have a hunt round for an alternative but just haven't got around to doing it.

Hi Jag, glad you like the changes.
I use traditional cellulose paint from Jawel which colour sands and polishes without the need for a clearcoat, but you can use one if you want.
Silver cellulose is a very forgiving finish for the inexperienced sprayer as even if you gun it on and leave it without sanding or polishing it has a matt sheen that looks like bare aluminium.
On this occasion I had a couple of issues related to my gun, which had come as part of a set of air tools for less than £30, and my handling of said gun.
The underslung paint cup touched the top of the wings a couple of times when I was trying to keep the nozzle an even distance from the peaks and troughs over the rear wings and head fairing, and to try to stop that happening I tipped the gun over on its side. That was a schoolboy error which resulted in the paint take up tube sucking up air instead of paint and pebble-dashing the surface with tiny globs of dry paint, that have left parts of the surface feeling like sandpaper.
Silver cellulose is such a forgiving choice though that you actually have to touch the surface to realise there's anything wrong with it, hence being able to take it out last night without worrying that anyone would notice.
Currently about £140 for the 20 litre kit, but I paid less than £100 about two months ago as they regularly run special offers on ebay.
All in all, I'm very happy with the changes to the bonnet and side sill, and my mistake with the spraygun was just another opportunity to gain experience to take on to the next project.
I also use G3 and a polishing mop once I've hand colour sanded the finish. On this occasion the surface is too bad to rescue in places without taking it back to primer, so I'll be spraying the whole car again to ensure that the surface is all one colour.
Oh, I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but I also changed the front indicators from the small, oval led type to Land Rover ones. They look more like the ones fitted to the original D24 Spyders and have fixed an issue with the hazard lights flashing at double speed that I hadn't been able to sort out any other way.
Mr T - I've been switching between a Mac & a PC in an attempt to get at your photos.
Sometimes your album would appear, but if you clicked on the next photo arrow, a different album would appear and any attempt to go backwards failed.
Other times, your album contained the same error message as the forum and sometimes there was just an error message and no album at all.
Given the negative reaction to this so far, I expect this decision to be reversed shortly.
( As, surely, the whole point of an image hosting site is to allow images to be hosted! )

Yes, there were some very expensive rides on parade, it's not caught in the photos but there was a BMW i8 directly ahead of me and a Ford Crapi (no, that's not a typo) in front of that.
It was a shame I had to remove the roundel from that side as the decals make such a difference to the overall look of the car. They'll all be replaced with new ones once I've finished the paint.
Your son looks like the cat that got the cream, so job well done I would say.
Shitty thing for photobucket to do though. How much are they asking to 'upgrade' as you can probably host your own domain with storage space for around £15 a year. Doesn't surprise me that they are doing it to be honest as picture hosting is expensive and fraught with copyright issues and hosting of dubious content.

Haven't looked to see how much ransom P bucket want, but won't pay on principle - once you've given in to blackmail once you're an easy touch for them to come back and keep demanding more.

holiday was fine towed rain last day and a little on sat in looe but yea great motorhome run great 760 miles....off out today in green car off to baston in lincs car bike show about 45 mins run ....have you done car now.....its looking good

I've finished the mods to my car and it's roadworthy again, but the paint needs flatting back and a few more topcoats adding, which I'm aiming to do over the next four or five days.

LOOKING VERY GOOD Towed ....bonnet is so much better and indicators are an improvement too ...
Thanks Gary, yep, the bonnet scoop looks much more authentic now and the LR front indicators do look more period correct. Might just change to clear lenses at some stage though.
And back on the road again today after rather too long a break for a freshen up -
Very pleased with the results, it now looks better than ever. Proper black & white plate for the back should be here tomorrow and it's going in Friday morning for its roundels and other badging to be professionally applied, so should have some better pictures to show then. Photobucket permitting...
