Next step is to get the roll cage off to the welders and have the one hinge moved across by the corresponding amount as we've moved the boot lid fixings, then in turn get it away to the powder coating specialists for a nice black finish!
Meantime the cut piece from the boot lid will be bonded to the body shell and built up ready to take the filler flap in due course.
Ben at Classic Coachworks is a complete BMW Guru and is also kindly giving the brakes an overhaul for me this week while it's on the ramp, plus he's already replaced some perished hoses for me too
What a great idea on the fog and reversing lights.
May I ask which flush fitting lights you are using?
They are flush fitting Hella ones, about £12-15 each from Ebay. A little bigger than the reflectors but not by a huge amount.
I'm in two minds about the different coloured lenses though tbh, although it may look better on a dark colour car (I'm intending a dark blue). I might try two white units, one fitted with a red bulb, or I may go with two red ones and try to come up with something else for the reverse lamp. The jury is out....!

Ben at Classic Coachworks has been working his magic during the week....
We've deliberately not recessed the filler below the body line at all so as not to create a well in which spilt fuel might collect. Still a work in progress but I'm really pleased with the result so far and it keeps the line of the wings clean having the filler here!

Is the cap meant to the way round, hinge front side? Less drag at light speed and all that.
To be honest we just placed it in to check positioning and it's not fully fitted as yet, the hard part is working out the filler pipe run!
Looking at it now you've highlighted this though, you have a point, although at least this way around the flap will stay open...two schools of thought and a decision that'll be deferred to another day!
I don't envy you with the filler pipe run. I'd be tempted to drop the tank, and fit a hole on the passenger side (and seal the stock hole). Otherwise, filling the tank is going to be 'click ... click ... click' at the pump.

Trying to avoid that at all costs! Ace reckons his solution works OK having tried it (see his build thread!) and so we've looked at a similar route, plus we have a plan B, both of which appear to give a continuous fall to the BMW filler neck.
Won't know for sure of course until we test it with a fill but taking the tank out and modifying it would be a very big deal!
Classic Coachworks usually have SWB roll cages powder coated by a local specialist and having had the left hand boot hinge moved over, mine has been similarly treated and now permanently fitted...
Ben has been continuing his excellent custom work on the boot lid around the fuel filler mods....

You can also see the cut-outs we made for the rear fog & reverse lights. The plan has changed a little here though as these are now going to be two red lights (fog) to more closely resemble the original style reflectors with another cunning plan formulating for a subtle reverse light which will still retain the clean uncluttered lines of the car...

Good to see the fuel filler pipe in. From the photo, it looks like it cuts through the boot space. Or is there still more to do?

Thanks Chris, yes really very pleased with progress! Classic have lots on their plate at the moment but are doing the business for me whilst also allowing me to get stuck in when time allows!
The fuel pipe does indeed enter, or rather exit the boot area, but it’s still a work in progress to make it work whilst still keeping the boot space practical. More will be posted in a couple of weeks on this I’m sure!
