My rebuild updates..

12 Oct 2006, 7:35am
I cut it up into 3 sections.. The front section was damaged from the crash and quite bent with suspension mounts ripped off, mounts were for prototype suspension anyway. I'm keeping the rear section to mock up the 4.2 Audi V8 :icon_lol: for phase 2 which will come later on..

No more pictures for here, there are a few on my site. Got the steering hooked up and the brakes bled. Having problems bleeding the clutch hydraulics for some reason, anybody else suffered from this?
I also fired up the engine for the first time today which is a huge bonus, with the clutch sorted it could be drivable!

Well I've driven it up and down the drive now, no pic updates for a while as it is mostly sorting out wiring so not very exciting.
Painter is coming any day now and I want it painted asap which he didn't see a problem with..

Off to paint tomorrow :-)

Ok, I've forgot, what colour had you decided on?

not 100% which one, but black, probably Audi 'phantom black' metallic. I keep going back to that photoshopped black car that was up on pistonheads ages ago!

Mine will have a matt black window trimline and my bi-xenons but other than that it will look as above. My theme is turning into a black on black, black leather interior too. I think the black body colour helps disguise the gap in the wheel arches so visually lowering it..

Now in primer... glad to be seeing the back of that foul green colour!

Don't think much of the stripes though :yo:

I'll get me coat...

Back from the painters...

Yep, very nice :thumb: Graphite coloured wheels or normal?

I'm going to stick with the standard wheels for now as they are, will look better once the ride height is set properly. I'd like some colour coded centres and polished rim 19" split rims but my budget can't stretch to that right now! There isn't much room on the phantom for wheels, they need a big offset and that awkward 4x114.3mm bolt pattern unless you change the hubs...

Looks really nice :D

Where are the GT0 twin stripes over the roof? :-)

Seriously looks great, I love black but my last four cars were so and I had a change.

Nearly finished, I plan to have screen in and get it MOT'd in the next week or so. Headlights are now finished and I'm very pleased with the result! After MOT I'll get it over to the trimmers to do the carpets, dash and centre console and then that's it, daily hack duties will commence!

I've been doing some of the trim myself:

in the Phantom Ken?

I threw the interior in today and did lots of final bits and pieces to get it ready for its MOT, then I can drive it over to the trimmer when he can fit me in

7 Jan 2007, 8:31pm
Yeh, in the Phantom even if its not quite finished.
11 Jan 2007, 8:39pm
Road legal again! :-)

Anyone know any decent/inexpensive trimmers in Warwickshire? The guy I was going to use is booked solid until the end of April. I need the dash/centre console and carpets doing..

Rich
PS I'll get some pics up when I have some light, couldn't have had a worse days weather for the first drive, it didn't leak anywhere though!

Hi Ricola

ive been checking out your website - wow, some fantastic ideas in there, for when i rebody my car. (organically shaped GRP!!)

looks like you use the same engine as me, ie 2.7 litre V6 from a Rover 827, and now you got a cheap, UNUSED engine as a spare.

qu - are there many more such virgins lurking around? cos after 7 years without any TLC (or use), my motor could be ready for an early bath once i get the kit up and running again

just thinkin. . .

not that i wanted to hijack the thread with my last post, i did try a few years back to pursuade my father to build a Phantom (well, me build it, he pay) out of his 827. Are there rear seats for a coupla little people? (assuming no mega-hifi)
