Le Mans Classic trip 2016

Bulbs are like breathalyser. If your headlights are sealed units there is no point carrying a bulb. They either officially or unofficially stopped fining people.

And not having spare bulbs was more of an "offence" than having a light out !!! So people never replaced them anyway.

For most people, replacing xenons are a garage job.

And almost forgot- leave your super duper radar Snooper at home.

Anymore takers for this ? Looks like only a few of us at the moment.

Still time to make arrangements but it will get booked up before long.

Camping LaFleche and tunnel crossings still available at the moment.

Finally Im booked and paid. £1200 for 2 via chunnel and event tickets and glamping from Thursday morning till Monday afternoon.
Very excited!

Has anyone else booked up yet ?
28 Feb 2016, 9:43pm
The campsite still has some availability , I suggest if you are planning to come but haven't booked then do so by the end of March at the very latest.

Fantastic variety of cars feature in all the races over the weekend. If you haven't been before but love the Classic Car scene then this event is for you !

Not wanting to bang on about the "Classic" , but we have so many completed cars on here now , do we have any more takers for this event ?

I haven't checked on availability for ferries / tunnel or camping for some time but I'm sure there will something if you wanted to go.

After a quick double check of what I have got ready for this trip I noticed one omission:

Car - Tick
Channel Crossing - Tick
Camp Site - Tick
Ticket to Le Mans Classic -

Anyone got a link to the proper site to get the ticket to the event?

When I google I get loads of sites offering me package deals, camping deals, car parking deals...

I just want a simple ticket. Please can someone who knows what they are doing point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Yes , that's the one 53 Euro for the main ticket . Paddock pass if you want to see everything. There is so much to see on the infield of the track which is included in the main ticket entry price you might not want the paddock pass !

You can buy a ticket on the day at various places when you get there, I usually go to the ACO office or the museum shop .

Thanks IanA for posting the link

You're welcome. The Museum there is worth a look as well- lots of pics and films as well as car exhibits.

I go to the Classic every year and found that you can make huge savings by joining the ACO. You can buy 6 tickets at the members price (inc car parking & paddock passes), early notification, entry to ACO only areas, etc.
20 Apr 2016, 9:07pm
Yes there are group savings to be had if you're an ACO member. I have taken advantage of this in the past when I have gone with other clubs.

Perhaps if there interest from the few going this year to do an "arranged" trip next time . ie a Tribute Club visit to the 2018 Classic.

This time round it has been every man for himself !

Not long now !

WCA has got his car polished up and ready to go, any more takers ?

I haven't decided on my mode of transport yet , Audi A6 - MX5 - Triumph Roadster are options at the moment !

Wish I'd kept hold of my UVA McLaren M6 GTR . Took in once to the 24hr before selling it on, doh.

I had one of those years ago ...well kind of ...I had a Manta Montage . It was one that had been imported and the build had been started by a writer for one of the kitcar magazines , years ago ...I'm talking very early 90's maybe ?

I finished it off , drove it a bit and sold it to a guy from Salisbury ...

Wasn't it Ian Stent(?) who build one? Red with 1600 crossflow running twin 40's (always though it was an odd engine choice).

I have photos from Stoneleigh in mid/late 80's when it was first built somewhere. Always fancied an F33 can am!

UVA fugitive with mid mounted rover v8 "sighs"
Where are they now?
16 May 2016, 5:16pm
Mine was half Beetle pan , half homemade ...it had Beetle front axle , Variant rear suspension and a Renault 30 V6 engine and box fitted...
16 May 2016, 6:21pm
The UVA had a bespoke chassis with mid mounted V8 , mine was a tuned Rover lump. A quick car in its day and sounded fantastic with the V8 on full chat a few inches from your left ear hole ! The seats were separated by a molded section behind which was the engines water pump , that's how close it was ! Happy days !

Not long now !

Of interest to the 250 SWB crowd there is an original 1961 250 GT SWB being auctioned on the 9th at the circuit by Artcurial Auctioneers.
Finished in red it would be interesting to see Richards Kalifornia parked outside the auction marquee and the reaction it might get !!

Weather forecast looks good for that week , unlike the 24 hr just gone.
