The kit car market has been there with offerings from Southern Roadcraft , RAM , even Robin Hood, all back in the 90's. Robin Hood based them on the Rover SD1 , Jag XJ6 and even a Triumph TR7 !

No reason why a Z3 version couldn't be done but I don't think there would be the demand now as its been done before and the idea fizzled out long ago.

I love the Daytona, but I have to agree the time when everyone was cashing in on the popularity was when Crocket and Tubbs were on screen.

Cars from popular TV programs do make the limelight and can become collectable ! Having said that I can't think of any one car on TV at the moment that might go that way. Plenty from the past though , my own Triumph Roadster as seen on Bergerac and more recently on the Go Compare TV ad !

All the old Daytona donors have either rusted away or are now very expensive.
I could see a Daytona kit with no IVA being very popular. It just depends if you could get the nose low enough.
Would be a great range of models for Tribute, maybe even re mould the 250gto to fit the Z3, would be much easier to build with a bolt on rear end. I'm sure Chris & Dan could knock one up for next weekend

Yeah. I still love the shape of the Daytona, but don't have the ability or time to build a full kit. The tribute method would be so much easier.

I'd be up for a Daytona. I think they look great, the front isn't that low when you see the photos and the screen is quite modern and 'slopey'.

Yup, daytona a beautifull car, and should be able to get pretty close on a Z3....

It would be interesting to see a 'ghosted' photo overlayed on a Z3, just to see how close they are. I definitely think it would be popular.

Seriously tempted to buy it but I'm sure it will go for quite a bit. If it did turn up on the drive I'm sure I would lose one of my favourite parts of my anatomy.

Nubodi has a replica that could be copied but with the ever growing lists of projects at Tribute I would say its not going to happen soon

Why not just buy this one and finish off. Its only a matter of buying an old XJ6 and transferring the mechanical parts. SR were one of the best kits in the day , it should be a simple bolt together job.

Any idea what a set of glass, interior, roof and wheels might cost?
Gotta be a 20k plus build at a minimum in parts alone.

Just checked alsaautomotive.co.uk and they have new windscreens @ £1085 , probably the most expensive single item. Allow a similar amount for two side windows , £800 for interior , £400 suitable set of used Compomotive wheels, £400 for tyres and £750 for odds and ends. Paint @ £3000 so under £8k to complete it. If the kit goes for under £2k then you will have a sub £10k build.

You can spend a small fortune doing a Daytona (I'm going to be attempting one on a TVR wedge)

Original 2nd hand front indicators can set you back £1k on their own, Similar for a set of original rear lights. Interior cost is horrendous if you go down the replica route.

Apparently though with this ebay SRV12 you only need a rotten Jag a few spare weekends, bish bash bosh and it's done

A Triumph TR-7 interior is practically a shoe-in.

Get Chis to modify it using existing screen, windows and roof and the parts bill comes tumbling down. This was it really could be done in a "few" weekends.
