New Prjoect

Just bought the wheels, 22" AMG replicas. Tyres are 283/35/22. I may need to put bigger tyres on to make them look right But the good news is they are the same size tyres on my wifes Range Rover and that all have 7mm + thread on! (And a Brucey bonus is that there is 5 of them, 1 to be mounted on the back)

Does anyone know where I can get the AMG domed resin style badges that fit on the alloy where the AMG would normally be engraved?

A massive range of wheel centre caps on ebay. There were about 300 different jag ones when I bought some a couple of weeks ago.
4 Jun 2015, 7:47pm
Not the center caps im after landmann, if you see the last pic (top right) you see the edge of the alloy rim. The origional amg alloys have the amg logo engraved but the replicas, as these are normally come with a domed resin sticker with the amg logo. Cant fing them anywhere!

If you can't find original badges there are a number of sellers on eBay who'll make resin domed badges from your own artwork.

You can get them from Merc themselves.... or WCA's SLK?
4 Jun 2015, 9:41pm
I had a set of amg wheels on my CLS and they where engraved with AMG, i didnt think Merc done the domes resin 1s?
4 Jun 2015, 9:58pm
Do you know what embarrassingly I used to work for them and I had completely forgotten, BUT you are completely right! now you've reminded me they were all recessed in the alloy.

I think y cymro has the best bet then

Im a few £££ lighter tonight but just bought the new style front bumper, rear bumper, wider wheel arches and a roof spoiler...

They will be getting deliverd to tribute early next week so im sure if anyone need to upgrade their G wagon tribute should soon be able to help you with that....... ;) ;) ;)

Ive still got to shell out for the headlight surrounds and a front grill. Ohh and all new lights. Non of which are cheap!

Just saw this new model today.
Mansory Gronos G63 AMG 6X6 with 840 horsepower .

5 Jun 2015, 2:55pm
DSG4ME I really like that front grill, not sure on the colour though.

Ed, i seen them but they have to be curved to fit the slot at the edge of the wheel rim. I have seen them before on a set of replica alloys so I know the exist but cant rind them even on ebay!
5 Jun 2015, 4:31pm
On my wheels, genuine, the AMG is part of the rim mould, not a badge. I guess you would need to find someone willing to fake AMG. I should think copyright etc is why yours just have the gap ready for a badge.

I can take some pics of mine if you want to see what you are aiming for.
5 Jun 2015, 5:12pm
Ive had genuine amg alloys WCA and ive also seen some replicas (as i have bought here) but they came with a resin type domed amg badge (it will of been a fake badge as mercedes dont do them) but cant find them anywhere. I have came across these though which may do.....

They are the right curve for the wheel just need them the rigbt size and maybe in a dark silver so it sort of looks as tho its engraved (from a distance!)

Why don't you get some aluminium blanks laser engraved, file them exactly to fit the recesses then glue them in? The engraving could be done all five on the same blank, then cut out to shape and filed to shape or even laser cut?

If it's just the three letters AMG, surely that could be the owners initials, he could be personalising his car???
5 Jun 2015, 6:25pm
Yeah i could go down that route, will have a google about for companies. Its not just the AMG letters, its the lines before it and the whole logo which will be copyright. Im sure there will be companies about that dont care about these silly little laws! As the company that stitched a nice ferrari horse into my headrests on my GTO

In these days of CNC relatively simple designs are inexpensive to have stitched or engraved. My Marlin Nut logo only cost a tenner to have digitised for embroidery, I can have any garment or piece of fabric embroidered with that logo for peanuts now.
5 Jun 2015, 8:32pm
When i had my ferrari horse embroided i got the logo from google images and downloaded a free program that chaned the image from a jpeg to the correct format for embroiding (cant remember the format) was really easy to do then i just emaild the image to the company doin the work. Any image can be done free and easy only takes 5 mins
5 Jun 2015, 10:36pm
Thanks for that but it seems to be a PC software, I am very much Apple Mac!

That said my buddy who does the embroidery for me may well find it useful and he does use PC's!

My buddy emails a JPEG or TIFF file to somebody who converts it to the appropriate format, at the same time it has to be 'sized', that sets the stitch pattern I understand.

They do many hundreds of school logo's each year, together with occasional one off's for small businesses and local clubs. I get mine done as returned favours...

As I understand it laser or water jet engraving works in much the same way.
5 Jun 2015, 11:35pm
Yeah, the embroidery place I used wouldnt send the image off to get done as it was copyrighted so i converted it myself and gave them it and they were happy to embroid it!
8 Jun 2015, 6:59pm
More parts orderd today, some headlight surrounds and front grill. All these bits seem to be rather over priced for what they are and its starting to add up!....

What else do you need... tan, headdress, gold rimmed aviators and street in Mayfair. Seriously, are the new G wagons built on an ML chassis?
11 Jun 2015, 10:30am
