naw - what you described there is almost exactly how I felt. Check out my thread to see my lack of ability.

I am now using my Z300S Barchetta more often than my 600bhp SLK. I get let out at junctions, I get camera phoned, I get thumbs up and I get the back end sliding wide at any excuse ;-), so much better in the wet than the over cautious mercedes traction control that cant be turned off.

Save your pennies and make sure you get a 6 cylinder Z3 as the 4 cylinder 1.9 is a hateful lump.

If you are ever near Southampton then give me a shout and I will take you out for a blast

Good point well made. You don't need to say please, Chris has already started advertising it on ebay...

Just looked on eBay and my car is there as the show car for the kit.

He could have used a better picture :-(

@landmannn - hey thx - thats where I saw it (eBay) and I already contacted Chris to express my interest - I think it shows a lot of promise...
@world class accident - I may just take you up on that. Yeah the 'nice car mister / mate' is a heart warming event that Ford / Vauxhall / VW drivers will sadly never experience. We drove to Lake Garda in the Marlin and must have been photographed a hundred times. Even got asked to borrow the car for wedding photos when we arrived :-)

Have you checked out the new AC Cobra Mk. V1 GTSR 2014 model?

It has a few modern touches to it. Big front spoiler, hood scoop, led tail lights and a Ferrari Style rear diffuser and a 300K price tag ! Maybe some ideas from this could appear on the Tribute Kobra if people liked them. Although many will still prefer the original style.

Yes please! I love the more aggressive look and modern twist on this classic. It looks almost like the love child of a cobra and a modern Aston Martin.

Looks of a cobra with everyday drivability, sounds like a winner to me!

If many of you like the the AC Cobra Mk. V1 GTSR then check out this hi- tech modern version of another Cobra called the Iconic AC roadster.



Some might not be too keen on the lights but it really looks a mean machine.
Now, if Tribute can create a mix of the GTSR and the Iconic Roadster I´m sure the will have a winner in their hands.

Thanks to Richard for the loan of his Z3 for the development. We are aiming for a March 2014 launch and a visit to Detling Show with a finished car.





It isn't that different from Chris' rendering, faired in at the front and wider arches are the main changes. It wouldn't take a huge amount of work.
Take a Z3M with its 330 bhp as a base and you would have the performance to match the looks.

Tempting, must finish my mx250 though.

It was always our intention to go with more "modern" styling features on the Kobra (German for Cobra BTW), I have always liked the BACKDRAFT COBRA, blacked out chrome, black alloys with low profiles, LED versions of traditional lights etc.

I really like the GTSR. We have the original Z3 front bumper/spoiler that Geoff has kindly donated from his SWB project, that has a good lower lip as a starting point. We also have moulds for an E Type Jag bumper that are similar to the splitters in the front air intakes. The rear spoiler looks very much like an MX5 one, have a couple of those. And this looks good for the diffuser:

the new fiat 500 has the round version LED headlights i think, with them being fiat may be cheap enough.
