One sheet of plywood, 2440x1220x9mm (shuttering ply is fine), is enough to line the inside of the cockpit. I used glass fibre to finish off the curved rear corners, but the designer cut triangular wooden fillets and bonded them in.
Would aluminium sheet not be lighter to use, would help to keep the weight low and would stiffen your frame if rivuted on. Great work so far by the way
Aluminium has a lot of advantages when lining the cabin but is very expensive and i would imagin takes a lot longer to do, so i can understand why most opt for using wood.
My tub is aluminium and bonded/riveted which definitely gives the car a solid feel.
In fact I have hesitated a long time between the 2cv motor and the GS Motor (GS motor is the same than the AMI SUPER motor) but I wanted to built the car the much closer to registration papers of the car. So I 've keep the original 2cv motor.
I don't want to race with the car, only for pleasure and I like to take the time.
My lights come from CITROEN Ami6 or CITROEN DS estate.
Hello Michel, the chassis and the body fixed at the frame are completly separated. I can change the chassis very easyly. You will see on my next pictures !
Performed a really nice job I would say. Much eye for detail. And what a big luggage compartment you have. The Triumph based cars, alle have to deal with a fuel tank and the leaf spring that are in the way. Speaking of wich, Where is your tank going to be?
I assume you are going to use sliding and tilting seats to get into the luggage room? One fellow over here in the Netherlands, also buiding a Sammio Cheveaux, is breaking his head over the fact that he doesn't want his seats to be too high. But maybe you are not as tall as he is.
This would be the car to discover the French Alps!
I would be very interested if you could give me the contact with the other owner of sammio chevaux. (in fact we are 3) I have find lower seat. I've got 48cm height in the car and the seats won't be higher. It will be interesting to see how the 2 cars are buit, maybe with a different way.
All the chassis is the original (just lower), the tank also.
