Fatbloke builds a Spyder

Cheers Tony, need all the encouragement I can get, although I didn't think I'd get the front end to a point where it looked half decent and it's nearly there so I'm sure the back will be a soluble.

Hi, I am building a mk1 mx250C and my front end should be on by the end of this week . I had a little trouble with the rear but nothing as bad as that . Mostly getting the boot to sit straight was my nightmare . Keep go

Oops , keep going drop me a line if you need help
( I pressed the wrong buttons earlier sorry )

Does yours have the aston style front? if so we are all unique in what we are up to, MK 1, MK 2 we are but three as far as I know.:icon_biggrin:

Normal front like yours . Having trouble to get it to sit right though!!! Mines got side vents and scoops on the bonnet plus high back bucket seats . Hopefully will be at the BBQ

Decided to use the rear lights I got from a local scrap yard. Think vertical rather than horizontal looks better.

I like the horizontal version but a little bit closer to the side

Horizontal does fill space better.

last pic definitely looks best to me, horizontal and nearer the side. presumably separate fog and reversing light mounted below bumper (thats if fogs not incorporated into those main units)?

Fog and reversing lights going to be hanging from the bottom.

Getting close to the end of the dry fit. Does anyone who's done the Mk2 have some pictures of the relief cuts on the front to fit the wings? There some of the rear wings on the Mk2 build thread but not the front.

Love the 1950's Austin lights (A55 - A90?), very period.

Will find some pics of the relief cuts in Mk2 front wings and post up for you.........

A50 - have to do some work on the bayonet adapters as their a bit rotten and have to replace to cotton braided wires. My son asked me what the funny stuff coming out of the lights was when we took them off the car at the scrappy, he'd never seen cotton braided cables before despite being in his 3rd year as an apprentice mechanic.

My 2nd ever modified car was a Wolseley 1500, lowered/roof chop etc, and all the cotton had rotted away leaving all black wires. It made for some very interesting wiring problems :faint:

101 uses for a broken step ladder:

No 1. Use it as additional supports for a the rear end of an MX250 convertible

But the you don't see it when the rear is fitted so who cares.

Managed to get the front seriously low. Might have to shim it out to raise it a bit.

I have searched for a better pic for the front wings, but this is the only one that shows them on the Mk2:

Thanks for looking Chris. Between this and the pics the German guys have posted I should be okay.

Finally bit the bullet and added the wing vents. Took some courage to cut the kit as I've never done anything like this before but quite pleased with the result.

They really look good, good idea.

Added the vents into the other side today

and fitted the A50 rear lights (although not wired in yet)

Anyone know what colour this Ferrari is?

16 Jun 2013, 11:04pm
Found it - it's Rosso Barchetta. Ferrari still use it today - looks like I've found my colour.
