I will look into colour tommorow. Alloy screen fitted now and fits perfect :yo:
Just think you could drive your car in the rain too :decision:

Mike the car is a Maserati Berlinetta 1954 so I will check on the colour! Nice blue and probably the one I will go for. Very period looking. :yo:

Anyway, small update as I managed to get some time in between the rain showers this weekend to strip the chassis down, clean it up and get a first coat of chassis black on it in the back garden!

The bits stripped off the chassis were dunked in the parts washer, dried off, and then given a coat of chassis black too. A feeling of deja vu as it was about this time last year I had the same picture for the chassis of my sammio spyder!

So a productive weekend and I am going to to try and get a rolling chassis back together next weekend, with the engine and gearbox in. :flame:

Not a lot to update this week.

The weather has been rubbish as we all know, :smow: and so i have been painting all the chassis bits'n'bobs inside this week.

Just the swing spring left now, which I will do tomorrow, and then that's everything pretty much painted and ready to reassemble next weekend.
:eusa_dance:

I will need to order some bits and pieces like brake pads & shoes and the fitting kits this week so I will have them for next weekend. As it is easter, I am aiming to get the chassis rolling, the frame attached and the wiring in. Oh and the pedal assembly/servo mounted.

I did pick up my wheels today. I bought six 15" wires off ebay for £100, and sent four away for blasting and powder coating.

This is the before...

I went for the standard silver wheels this time - my last Sammio had black wires. So this is what they are like now... At £35 per wheel, I thought that was a good deal.

Yep, they fit the longer adaptors.

I will get them from MWS in Slough as they are just round the corner from my office.

Yes I have delayed my kit as I have no space at home on the drive at the moment.

I am hoping to get the frame home for next weekend so I can get the rolling chassis done, Engine in and the wiring sorted!

Another bonus with delay is that I have agreed with Mike that I will have my body in gel coat coloured so I don't have to paint it straight away.

Lovely weather today to build up my chassis. :high5:

Hopefully built and rolling by tonight. Will post pics later. :yo:

That's funny, I'm only 8 miles away and it isn't snowing here yet. Bloody weather...

Looking forward to seeing your Miglia coming together Tone, when's your target date for roadworthyness?
29 Mar 2013, 10:13am
Cold but a beautiful clear day here on the coast, lets see what I can get done, a hundred and one jobs started but none finished. The interior is taking a lot of time but dashboard is coming along. just want to get some paint on but patience persists.

no snow here in the south!
was quite warm in the sunshine but then it got cloudy and cold!

Got the rear end together.....

As you can see I have put a swing spring in and I haven't got my lowering block yet, so that will go in next week. I am going for a 1" block as that was my sammio was with 15" wheels. May need to go more, but I will wait and see. It is relatively easy to get to when it is built up anyway (my sammio took about 4 attempts to get the ride height sorted!)

Anyway, one thing to remember if you are going to convert to a Swing Spring and that is to block up the 2 holes that are not used in the diff as the Swing spring only has 4 bolts and not 6.

I used a standard bolt which I crimped the thread a bit with a hammer. this causes a friction fit with no chance of it undoing and dropping into the diff!

Wind the bolts in and then hacksaw off the head flush with the diff casing.....

And viola - two blocked holes!

I did get the front end on as well but forgot to take pictures so I will take some tomorrow!

I have come in now as I am going out to the pub later. :smokin:

Hope to get the brakes and steering rack on tomorrow, and then the brake pipes and fuel pipe on.
29 Mar 2013, 3:40pm
Oh yes, Mr T. I am hoping for a May finish - stoneleigh if I can, but I a have just picked up a few jobs in April that will take up some of the spare time, but will earn some more money for bits and bobs!

End of May is a definite! Ready for a scorching summer !! :pound:
30 Mar 2013, 12:37pm
Mmmmm did I block my holes or not? cant remember now.
30 Mar 2013, 4:30pm
A little further today, just had a couple of hours before I had some other stuff to do, so I finished off the front end...

Got the rear brakes to sort tomorrow morning and then it will be rolling! :eusa_dance:

It's got the standard wheels on at the moment as I need to get tyres and adapters for the wires..

Brake pipes and fuel pipe on Monday, along with the engine and gearbox I hope.

I will aim to get the frame on during next week....:pray2:

Are you finding things easier second time around?

It does look like it is all coming together nicely.

Good luck, Paul. :)
