Thanks Chris, Good point. I thought I may be able to use the original hinge and spring set up? You may have already tried this?
Yes, the hinges will bolt to the new GRP parcel shelf via the rear captive nut on the hinge boxes and you will need to form a couple of small brackets to pick up the other mounting points too. Bolt the hinges to the inner skin of the boot and offer it up into the opening. You may be able to cut and weld the springs as well but I haven't done it because it closes down the opening into the boot area too much. I like Rogers external hinges, and will probably go that route on our next demo build over the winter.

I have got some of those spinners (Europa £19 the set?) for the A352 wheels. I just need to form a mounting stand for them, probably moulded from a spray tin lid or similar.
Have a look at Nissan micra nose grilles for the wing, but don't tell anyone else that I said that

The beauty of the VW lid lock it has the finger guard to lift the boot. You can get rid of those horrible big hinges , go for the external mini ones like mine. Gives much more room. Also no boot release in the car, no bending in to open up. With this lock you just walk up and unlock it (another key I know ). Simples
Thats improved the look of the wheels no-end. How are you going to hold the spinners on?
I like the boot catch too. Its a bit like the 250 door catch. Any plans to remove the mazda one and fit those instead?
I hope to use the remote release mechanism, but Im not there yet. The catch looks good. Warm enough in the garage today??
I have removed the mazda springs, lots more room.The remote cables boot and cap are gone.the external mini hinges work fine and with the lock and fuel cap look old.
It was so cold i had to sit rattle can in bucket of hot water for 10 mins to be able to spray. The wheels have a 60mm diameter center hole for the image center caps, made a 25mm long collar with grub screw ( they were tight anyway) and then a smaller collar inside that to sit the spinners on.

I can't stop myself looking at Micras now imagining how their vents would look. There's loads of different styles too :-)
Approached someone in a Micra today he let me look at the bonnet vents, was thinking of 90 degrees different to your "photoshop". Previous to that it was a pack of six chrome louvers three each side, £5 from CBS.

They do look good don't they. I haven't tried them yet so don't know if the curve on the rear face is anything like the 250 wing, but then that's what filler is for!
I measured a micra vent today, about 14" long. I think it may be a bit big. This 'latest' shape is 10 1/2", penned by Greg the artistic one. Thats a nice shape I said, but its me that has to make it!

A quick update on my efforts to register my Mazda as a Tribute. After taking my car to my local DVLA and being inspected. I was presented with a load of forms to fill in to re register the Mazda.
My Tax has just expired so i have been trying to SORN my car. I cant do it online and when I spoke to DVLA they told me to send form v890 with new reg and covering letter as car is in between regististrations. I have done this but still not SORN . Spoke to DVLA again today. My car now shows on system as Tribute 250 GT0 ( near enough0) I haven't filled forms in yet! I was told to send another V890 with covering letter showing old registration. (opposite to what they told me last time).
Any way went online with old reminder for previous REG and put it SORN. Think that will completely balls it up. Had enough by then.

Its amazing..the DVLA have always been renowned for being indecisive and being very local in their policy, and I am fine with that, its just its been like that since time began, and nothing seems to change!
