A friend of mine gave me a jag mag to read, and in it was news that a D Type Jaguar had just made a world record, by being sold for 3 million and 70,000 pounds.
It occurred to me that when I finish my build, it won't look much different than the three million pound car, and probably will have nicer looking seats!
Also, it will be wickedly naughty, as it won't even have a Jag engine in it!

Last night was the first time i had it out of the garage and it "seemed" ok, but driving back in there was a weird judder. But i can look into that now that i know how it all comes apart
I had ordered a Monza/ Aston type filler cap, which I could see the potential in, (it would need mods, and a re-build), well, it arrived in the post, and at 2 o'clock I snapped and got stuck in and did it.
I had to completely destroy the Spitfire cap, in order to release the parts I wanted for converting the Monza one, so once destroyed, my idea had to work!
Thankfully it did, and here are the pictures, it now looks a lot better than the Spit one, and does the same job.
Yet again, I spent all day working on the windscreen.
I re-arranged the side brackets to make it easier to get the screen on and off the car.
The brackets can now be removed with only two bolts each side.
Also there were two holes for the bolts in the front of the screen I was not happy with, so I filled them in and re-drilled to make them perfect.
I filled one side of the screen, but still have welding to do on the other side, so that will be filled after that job is done.
The screen work just seems to drag on forever, but it will get done, and I am much closer to the end than I was.
The irritating thing is, that I've done all this work, and it does not look much different.
The plus factor is, that with those side support brackets in place, the windscreen is so firm and rigid you can actually sit on it!.
All of the load is transferred down through the steel brackets to the side crash bars that are bolted across the original door space.
The other bonus is, that I most likely will be able to pull on the screen to drag my arse out of the seat and get out of the car.
Well I worked all day on the screen. I finally realised that what I was trying to do, was not in fact "do-able!
If I had welded the drivers side bracket the same as the nearside, I would not have been able to lift the screen clear of the body.
My brackets would have been too wide to clear the body aperture.
I needed a new cunning plan!
Decided to weld captive nuts to the drivers side, so that there would be no brackets to foul the body as the screen lifted out on that side.
This extra work took hours to complete, but the system works, and I am that much ahead on the build, so it was worth the effort.
Takes me back to the 60s and my first Mini. Those lead top hat terminals used to work loose and the engine would die as you braked for the lights. Leap out, open the boot, belt the terminals with the jack, close boot, jump back in, start up and away. Highly amusing, as long as your passenger wasn't a new friend you were hoping to impress!
My son got me interested in the Jaguar F Type, and along the lines of this forum I got thinking about making a copy.
I think I now know what my next project will be.
The MG TF is very similar in shape to the F Type, and with a decent turbo engine in the rear, it would go quite well. I think I would extend the nose about 9 inches or so, but did not do this on the following picture.
It has got me quite interested in having a go at doing it.
MG TF's are cheap as chips to buy as well......mmmmmmm
