Yes indeed, at present, I favour a deep red colour for the leather trim, but we'll see.

My mates MGB has had more money spent on it than it is worth, it is really "as new". He will never get back what he spent!
Reference the wood in the seats for my wood burner, I did attack the sofa today with chainsaw, and have said wood in a pile, pics to follow!
The two chairs will get similar treatment at a later date.
There must be 10 quids worth of wood, and the sofa yielded a further 10 pee today, so at present, it looks like I got the leather free, and was paid £6.55 for my efforts!!
This has given me a great idea,we are house hunting just now and my mrs has told me the corner unit is going by by.Now this unit is huge,and it's green leather,we paid 3.5k for it 15 years ago and to be honest because there's just the two of us the only bit that shows it's age is the two seats we sit on the most.I do see the sharp tools coming out.

What craft and attention to detail. We can all get the cheque book out, but after reading your thread I am so amazed by your determination to cross the bridge at all costs. So impressed, well done and keep up the good work. I now feel completely discouraged and embarrassed, so think it's back to the car this week end. Thank God I never put a "real" deadline on it. Hmm perhaps I could get a job as a Government spokesman (should that be spokesperson to be P.C.?)

Seriously though, it always has annoyed me when looking at price lists for Jaguar XKSS bits and pieces. The prices are all way beyond most hard working ordinary folk. I am very lucky to have found the neccessary skills which have enabled me to get this far with the build on an absolute shoe-string.
I also love a challenge, and this build has certainly provide lots of that!
You MUST NOT feel discouraged or embarrassed, but should think about being inspired! If I can do it anyone can, I used to be a soldier, and took great delight in blowing things up and all sorts of destruction, but then discovered that I also had a creative streak, which is what I am trying to develop now.
Go for it Simon! All the guys on this forum will give you help and advice, which is one reason I started the thread.
I have gained so much input from everyone, there are some really experienced and skilfull operaters out there believe me.
Could you lengthen the channel that the window felt will sit in? From looking at the pictures it looks as if it could go through the GRP body and bolt to the door hing bracket or the bar strengthener running across the door opening.
MGB's had a similar fixing, it may well make it easier taking it off and off and add strength, the wind pressure at 80mph would be quite strong. Maybe even a similar fixing added to the lower centre if there is anything underneath to mount it to.
I always intended to weld a steel strap to the inside of the windscreen at the rear edge, and bolt it to a bracket which I will bolt to the side crash-bar.
After looking at the interiors of XKSS, in one form or another it looks as
though they are all built this way.
When that is done, the bolts holding the screen on around the bottom edge, will hardly have any load on them at all, as the load should be taken by the side struts.
Remember clearing my mums flat out .... Hard to throw stuff out(charity shops not dumped)
That was 3 years ago,finally got out to Spain last week to sort her house out there....same again lots of stuff to the charity shops etc....upsetting for us ..as it was her dream home.

Just read yesterday's update Scottie. I'm sorry to hear your sad news, we all know it's inevitable but it never makes it any easier to bear.
It might sound heartless but I've always taken the loss of a relative or friend (and the near misses with death I've had) as a signal that life is short and should be lived to the full. So keep up the good work on your car and you'll soon have something that'll make you glad you're alive every time you look at it.
