I will probably pop down the boat chandlers over the weekend to see what they have got. I heard that they do stick on chrome strips for boats which are quite rugged. Not sure exactly what they will have but will post on my own thread if I find something useful

What you had was much better quality that the Halfords crap. I am sure I will be able to use what you sent me somewhere so no loss to me.

Try CarbuilderSolutions , they have lots of half round chrome trim profiles in various sizes. Some have self adhesive backings and should be formable around your windscreen.

I finally got around to finishing off the trim on the high level brake light. It's just a piece of 6mm self adhesive rubber but it does the job fine.




I've also fitted a strip along the side of the centre console sections as suggested and it does make the separate sections look more like one complete unit. It's just a bit from a Rover of some sort and is too short but I'll make something better now I have a proper plan.

One of my favs too. I think it's because it's not trying to hard - no brash wing emblems, retro colour but not any of the obvious choices. It was the best at Stoneleigh IMHO.

I agree with Smash, the only small petty detail that I don't like is the square front number plate. Oblong and black and silver would be nice (but naughty).
Has anyone had a tug for having one fitted (excluding mot)?

I have Black and Silver on mine , probably done about 6,000 miles since being sprayed , no stops yet! MOT tester asked if i had a set in Yellow/White happy with "Yes they are in the boot" Geoff .

I like the chrome strip around the screen , gives it a finished look.

I have a legal size and colour sticker plate on the front and black and silver show plate in the rear with a legal plate that clips over the top when required.

Not been questioned even when a photo of the rear with the show plate only was used against me for a speeding ticket

I'm sure the all seeing eye of DVLA will be reading that little snippet of information with interest...

Its all about collecting tax revenue with respect to the DVLA. Make sure your papers are in order !
I would like to think your local plod would let you off with a slapped wrist but I wouldn't count on it , they like issuing fines and awarding points !

Well, I was pulled over on the 18th of December (full details in my build thread) and the police were very nice to me.

Given the fact that a member of the public had just (falsely) reported me for dangerous driving, it makes your views on the police a long way from the truth.

However, as the saying goes, "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime".

So if you don't want a fine for driving with illegal number plates fitted, don't fit them.

But if you are happy to take a chance, then take a chance and good luck to you.

However, if you do actually get punished for your own illegal actions, blame yourself, not the police.

With all that is going on in this country and the world for that matter, I would like to think that the colour of your number plate is near the bottom of the list of crimes.

"If you can't do the time don't do the crime", good words of advice !

I hope there is an element of discretion in modern policing so we can all go about our business without fear of prosecution .

I have had silver and black plates fitted (without an age related plate) for years and never had a tug. I also run smaller than legal plates on all my motorcycles and again have never had a tug. I think so long as you are using the correct font and it is not miss spaced you won't get a pull. Even if the plate is slightly miss spaced, so long as it is easily read I don't think you will have a problem.

Also, the DVLA don't monitor websites for admission of incorrect number plates.

The police and government agencies have the technology in place right here and now to read every number plate of every vehicle on the M25 and confirm whether or not it is legal in size, location, font etc.

They don't yet use it and don't have plans to (as far as I am aware) as they currently cannot even agree to share the data between departments to catch the cars without tax or insurance which is slightly more important that a mis-spaced vanity plate.

Big Brother IS watching you, he just isn't yet clever enough to use what he sees for most of the time
