Tribute Owners Club - Meet, Drive and BBQ

30 Jan 2017, 5:08pm
WCA - Z300S Original
Ian A - Z300S Replica
Lucky@LeMans - Something road worthy
LancelotLink - Something possible off the back of a trailer
Chris - What ever he has on the road at the time

FatBloke - MX250 - 'Best efforts' commitment so far
Drum Major - MX250 - 'Best efforts' commitment so far

So 5 of the 10 spaces are gone for definite.
2 people will make best efforts depending on work etc.

I will try to keep the list up to date at the end of this thread so everyone knows when the show spaces are filled.

I have pulled some favours to get this off the ground and the landlord will also be publicising this with leaflets, social media and a family day or beer festival at the back of the pub to ensure there is a good crowd. I really don't want people saying they will turn up and then not bothering so at the start of May I will be asking for £20 from each person reserving a show space that will be fully refunded when they turn up just to encourage those who might waiver on the day.

If someone doesn't turn up, for what ever reason, there will a random choice from any of the other interesting cars there to fill the gap.

All make sense?

Blimey, 7 definites and 1 probable already. Anyone else better get in quick or people will be selling their spaces on the black market.

There will be a charity raising thing at the show where people pay to have their photos taken while sat in the show cars. If you don't want the great unwashed sitting in your cars then that is fine, just let me know on the day.

Also possible show video being produced by a professional videographer, this guy : https://vimeo.com/luisarnold

Brush your hair and dress pretty :-)

Hi, Would definitely like to book a place. We have booked accommodation.
California SWB ( Bandini).
30 Jan 2017, 7:53pm
8 definite

Who is quick enough to get the last two places?

Only 1 place if FatBloke steps up and confirms....
30 Jan 2017, 10:17pm
As a Pompey boy I will swallow my pride and make a trip to Southampton. ;-)

Lucky@LeMans - If he gets back from holiday on time

A quick shuffle and we have 8 definite, 1 probable. When the last places go I will open a 'reserve' list in case anyone drops out late.

Even if you don't get a show place, please come anyway. The more the merrier and plenty of time to poke around other peoples builds and ask questions.

The Mrs booked a surprise holiday to Italy, I get back late Friday night so with a bit of luck I'll be there !

Hmm- apart from the radiator grille, lights, filler cap, bonnet bulge, interior and colour I suppose it is a replica. I'd rather it was known as "Z300S Barchetta #4" !!!

Im up for it

Hi Nick

I would love to come along. Cobra up and running although the paintwork is not perfect yet. Showed it at Wickham square on Boxing day - got lots of interest.
Lots of people scratching their head as to what it was. Cheers

Hi Steve P,

A cobra you say - have any pics etc as yet?

It's good to see one newly built as the SWBs have been stealing the limelight recently.

Many thanks

Steve,

Just found this video of the event. Is your Kobra the black with red stripe shown right at the end of the footage? Looks cool from a distance.

Kobra

Greetings.
Photos hopefully attached.
Paint came out of a rattle can - well actually about 50 of the bloody things.
Lessons learnt and I now have a spray gun and compressor. I may have another go in the spring. It looks ok from about 6' away.
I had a look for the Wickham video and the only one I could find had a fraction of a second of my car right at the end. Was this the video?
My Kobra is a 2.8 Auto with a loudish exhaust. Lowered suspension. Spaced out wheels. Goes well. Looking forward to getting back to it soon but been working on my other vehicles recently. 4 cars and 4 motorbikes is ridiculous and I have to thin them out. Kobra staying obviously :-)

Kobra

DO NOT OPEN IMAGE AT WORK - Strangely after I painted my car black with red stripes I looked at the back end and thought it reminded me of a lovely black arse wearing a red thong! Photo attached reflects my thoughts

Steve P - Welcome to the forum.

Your Kobra looks good in the photos, which I've just added to the "Useful Info" thread.

Cheers, Paul. :)

PS
You might want to consider adding a NSFW (Not Safe For Work) warning to your thong photo link.

As I've worked in several places where just opening that link in an open plan office would get you into trouble.

Sorry Not Safe For Work photo. Please open it at home

Sorry guys, please do not open this at work if you have stalinist IT / HR departments

Steve,

Rattle cans ! Wow that is dedicated. From the pics it looks bloody excellent. I like that you kept the filler cap as it was. Keeps it simple (?) and keeps the smooth lines.

Are they two reversing lamps or I should one a rear fog in a clear lens ?

Have you noticed any difference in performance since replacing the Z3 parts with the Kobra? I assume it feels pretty much the same?

I ask so many questions. Sorry.

Love the wheels.

Dave

Great finish from rattle cans, very impressed. I do like the double stripes with pinstripes. Are thy painted or tape?

Hi Dave. One of the rear clear lights has a red bulb and is the reversing light. Not taken it through a MOT yet but hopefully it will be ok. I only had the Z3 for one day prior to its strip down so not sure how it compares to original. Hopefully its lighter and with improved air inlet and silencer its a bit quicker. The handling will be different as the track is now much wider and with lowered suspension it will probably be improved when the roads are smooth. She does follow the dips on bumpy country winding roads but I am used to that with some of my other cars (Lotus7 replica and a Chrysler crossfire). The filler cap is off an Audi TT and was flat but the body panel was curved so lots of filler to help it blend in. I am happy with that bit. I am thinking of respraying it satin black as gloss black does show every imperfection in the surface below. It does go well though and everything works on it. I just need to get it closer to 99% as at the moments its more like about 92%. Lack of time does not help.
Cheers Steve from Whiteley Hampshire

The stripes are red rattle can. I put 6mm wide stick on gold pinstripe between the red black joints and that worked well.

Nice work Steve from Hampshire.

The use of the TT filler cap is well thought through. They BM wheels ?

I (hopefully) will be doing my own Kobra this year so I always ask questions.
