Shame we cant fit the hard top as yet..bet Richard can find a way though!
I would be seriously interested in something like this, the hard top would not have to be removable, I'd get a donor with aircon. Either get a donor hardtop, else maybe Tribute could do one (is that likely)? Looks like they are busy enough as it is.
I am getting way ahead of myself here, but is anyone good with changing colours in images. I'd like to see what the Coupe looks like in Mercedes Laguna Green (image below).

Excellent, thanks Andy. I guess that it shows what folk always say, you lose some of the definition with light colours and very dark ones. I was thinking about maroon, but it can often look a turgid brown, being euphamistic. (No, you don't have to).
Mike, I will post a picture of your cream coloured kit assembled on our workshop Z3 before it leaves us in a few days time (still held up by rollcage supply).
Neil, in answer to your hardtop question, the rear of the SWB kit is higher in front of the boot opening and on the rear wings around the roof than the stock Z3. But the stock BMW hard top could be modified to fit.
I think the arches would accept 20" alloys if you wanted to go to extremes.

I haven't had a Z3 with a stock hard top so didn't know about fixing kits until I googled this:

Cream or off white will be a nice choice for the shape.
It is also quite forgiving in regards to panel straightness, Black as we all know is a nightmare.
Will you be adding stripes ? I have a Magazine feature on one, white with blue stripes, looks really good.
I'll see what it looks like, but probably won't be adding any stripes. I'm also going to keep the interior fairly stock, at least for the time being. I would love a wooden steering wheel, but would miss the airbag.
I would also love wire wheels, but it's a 'budget build' so steel rims will have to do - and will be a lot easier to keep clean!

Just out of interest - Is that cream coloured gelcoat?
I did a lot of investigation into large wheels for the 250 as originally I was going to have air ride (yep I know).
Offset is key. Axe EX20 wheels will fit - you can get them on ebay with et45 offset on 5 x 120.
To get the arches to cap the top of the tyre you'll need to go slightly higher in profile and narrower in width - basically a stretch fit so the tyre wall is pulling in toward the centre line of the wheel. It's a common trick with the ricer etc. crowd.
The reason you need to go up ion profile is you won't be able to close the arch gap otherwise - even with a 60mm drop which is max you can do on coil overs. I think I was looking at 35 profile.
*edit* Just read budget build? - these wheels are a grand a set
