Stoneleigh 2016 Map and Roll Call

25 Apr 2016, 11:38am
Who's going on which days ? Would be good to meet up with those going to the LeMans Classic. I can go either day at the moment.
25 Apr 2016, 11:54am
So neither day is looking good weather wise, I think they should move the event to the end of May bank holiday to get better weather. We will be heading up on Sunday - although a) without the MX250 b) not staying over night this year

Good news and bad news. Progress on the build has been better then expected, plus my mate who has the body shop has just finished the restoration on a customers Daimler SP250 (Dart) so there is a spare bay at his premises, so my car is now down there but totally stripped down to get the panels straight, level and the gaps set better then I had previously. Since they will be doing the spray job, with a little help from yours truly its the best place for it to be, consequently I wont be coming down to Stoneleigh in the SWB. I will still be coming down but in my daily run around and hoping to pick every ones brains and take loads of photos to help me along.I have a load of pics but I am not much good on the PC but I will try to post some pics. looking forward to it. I have been running the car since I picked it up in Feb with no problems at all. I have managed to transfer so photos onto my PC, just need to see if I can post them on the forum. Thanks for the offer of the hood motor/pump will pick it up at the show, I can at least show you the pics/ progress if I cant post them. I will be coming down with my mate who has the body shop so he will be able to see the standard he has to aspire to.

Hi all,

Anyone know if you can take your dog in to the show?

can take your dog in to the show

I am sure your car is not that bad!

:-)

There is no mention of dogs at all in any of the paperwork they sent me. You could give them a ring on 01406 372600 to check.

It is normally a farming show area too so my guess would be that dogs are fine if kept under control

Just wear sunglasses and put a coat on the dog and they will think its a guide dog!

We took ours last year, even in the halls, no problem.
They even let my wife in!!

Ah nice one. Thanks for the info guys!

Will it be alright to park on Clubstand or do I need to join owners club first ?

At the moment don't know what day I'm going on. It depends on how car goes on collection tomorrow - driving from Devon to Swindon.
Think weather forecast iffy on both days.
30 Apr 2016, 12:16pm
Everyone else will see my car before me as I've not seen it since its had gel coat on rear deck then front and rear repaint all of which was done within 3 days! Must be a record of some kind lol.

The Nubodi guys were refitting it yesterday til all hours at the same time the painter was still mopping it!

If you see anything strategically draped over it you know it's gone tits up in the last minute but heroic rush!

I'll be there tomorrow, looking forward to bumping into everyone! :tea: Will take lots of pics and post.

Any news on yours?

I washed the car this morning ready for the show. I was then pressure washing the patio to please the wife before I disappeared for a couple of days and remembered the amount of dirt on the wire wheels that wouldn't come off this morning.

What harm could a quick blast with a pressure washer do?

Yep, it could get behind a small bubble in the paint and stripa big patch off. Now I have had to blast the whole wheel and am waiting for it to dry before primer and wheel silver.

Trouble is I think the rest of the wheels will want doing too otherwise they will not match.

I now have 4 silver wheels. A bit of overspray on the tyres. Shame I didn't spot the wheels before getting the new tyres fitted.

Sat with a beer in the hot tub and the rain has just started.
30 Apr 2016, 6:00pm
Tudor Wheels will chemically clean them, blast them and powder coat them in "chrome" or any other colour for £56 per wheel
30 Apr 2016, 6:29pm
Or £6.99 for a rattle can of wheel silver every two years.

Powder coat is good but won't survive day to day abuse and cannot be touched up like paint. I chose cheap and easy

Weather looks fine.
Get them out :)

On days like this even a drive to Coventry seems strangely appealing

Roof down, foot down and see you there in an hour or so

Have a great day guys :)
