In the fourth pic you posted Chris, there's a white nose section behind that looks like SWB wings with a Z300 nose - what's that then?!

Nubodi are running 225/70 - 15 which is why they look big .

They are a standard van size which probably isn't ideal on a BMW Z3 chassis.

Not sure of the speed ratings either.

I'm still of the opinion that a 195/70 or 205/70 - 15 would work better.

A quick check on mytyres.co.uk shows 11 tyres of that size with an H speed rating (130mph) from £43 to £90 each.

And 5 tyres with a V (149mph) and W speed rating from £318 to £620 each.

I believe that the Z3 2.8 is quoted as a 143mph car so V rating is the minimum an MOT tester should pass.

According to the "KitCar" article they are £50 van tyres !

That's why I made sure that the Falken Euro-All Weather tyres on mine were V rated.

I went for Dunlop W rating specifically as wanted high speed and high profile tyres, Don't forget that the arch and suspension and ride height all differ compared with the Ferrari. Difficult to dimension that one out at the Ferrari museum without taking its wheel off etc. I'm going down from 235/65/17 to a 235/55/17 and getting one fitted tomorrow to see the difference in aesthetics. Looks to me as if the front wheel arch can take a much larger tyre than the rear. I'll post some pictures to show differences.

I don't think the police or the MOT man will check the speed rating of your tyres, they're only interested in the tread depth and general condition. If you had a bad accident however you can bet they will be checked , ie too late !

The KitCar mag says about the handling being a bit strange and the "you can feel the tyres roll over when you corner " . Wonder what the pressures are in those van tyres , really low to get an acceptable ride I would think .

Agreed- but an accident investigator would.

I even had a tyre dealer tell me that Vrated winter tyres "weren't required". I chose to disagree and obtained them anyway.

I can confirm that's the case. I am aware of a couple of recent convictions for 'causing death by dangerous driving' that involved inadequate tyre speed ratings (on a Ferrari) and bodged suspension modifications (Land Rover).

If you fit van tyres you'll probably get away with it. If you don't, I hope you like porridge...

Perhaps Nubodi will revisit their tyre choice . To advocate their fitment in the kit car press and the same article going on to state the handing qualities are less than ideal on the Z3 base isn't the best way to sell your £18k product.

There are a number of posts now with completed cars with car tyres fitted rather than the van tyres fitted here by Nubodi.

Not sure what this obsession with calling them van tyres - they're just tyres!! Speed rating, well, probably 70% of all cobra reps are running incorrect speed rating because they fit Goodrich TAs which only come in H rating but they look right.

I managed to get w rating comp tas for my old AK cobra but I had to import them and they were old stock even then back in 2005
