Love it deggsy, where did the handbrake come from?

Bought it in a auto jumble a few years ago can't remember what car it's off well worth the fiver I paid, knew it would come in handy one day

Looks like Mini or perhaps BMC 1100?

I have just spent two days cutting bending and riveting this cover plate and it's still not finished

And I still don't know if it's any good as I haven't decided weather to use the fibreglass cover or make an alloy one?

On the other hand I have made some progress on modifying the dash.

Deggsy, I used a new fibre glass gearbox cover (modified) then covered that with ally, take a look back on my thread and you'll see it.

thanks' Scottie it' a slightly modified mg midget dash do you have any idea what page your gearbox mod is on I'm up 15 and still searching

Not having a Herald chassis available to us, we have taken one of our Spitfire chassis's and stretched to Herald wheelbase and added outriggers at the correct outline size as a base to build Derek's frame onto.

Derek, you may not need the rear most section of the frame I am building but it has been a good design exercise for me to see how itwill work with a Spitfire frame/chassis:

Not much happening at the moment I re seated the floor pans ( miglia steel ones)as they were overlapping front to rear nice and flush now I managed to damage the fuel line in the process repaired now just waiting for the frame and body which should be ready soon ???

Decided to take off the tunnel cover and hand brake assembly as looking at the photos it seems to go back further than the frame I will modified it after the frame arrives, I'm too eager and getting ahead of myself!!!

Talked to Chris yesterday I am collecting the shell/frame next Wed

Went down and collected the body and frame off Chris yesterday no photos yet as it's still on the van waiting for my helpers to unload it this afternoon. It's looking very good and I am a few £ lighter can't waite to get started.

The frame placed on the chassis eace: all I have to do now is clean up the welds make locating brackets to bolt it down brackets for the steering rack, heater, pedals, safety belt mounts, weld on some earth tags And cut off the rear of the frame /boot support which I won't be using then paint it phew I need a rest just thinking about it

So why are'nt you using the boot support...?

I would have to cut off the original boot supports which are part of the chassis I could use either it just seems less work to use the original ones? I may be wrong!!!

Ah i see..... Yeah you dont want to cut or modify your original chassis,
could lead to sva nightmares...!
I was just concerned that there was enough support for the rear of the body,
would be a disaster if a crack appeared after finishing it...!

I will have to shorten the floor supports a bit not too much I hope, it should be just a matter of sending off the logbook if but if they did want to inspect it then I could have a problem?

cut off the rear of the frame today (very carefully just in case) it should give me more boot space.
I've also modified the front drivers side to give me extra leg room for the herald pedals (Chris make a note it will need to be done am any future frames you make) Not in the photos but I've also made and welded on 13 of the 14 frame to chassis brackets, one more to go then it's make the pedal mounts steering column brackets heater and safety belt brackets.

latest update

after lots of cutting welding and grinding then cutting out the mistakes more welding and grinding I have just about completed he frame which included 14 frame to chassis, 8 earth tags, pedal brackets, steering column brackets, heater brackets, and I welded in some diagonal bracing bars on the side of the frame. The only place I could fit the heater was in the passenger foot well so a bit of extended wiring and trunking required there. the frame is up on blocks until the paint dries and so I can drill the rivet holes for the front lower bulkhead panels. so far so good

pretty comprehensive frame, are you bolting body on at the side and gluing onto the flat plates on top?
