This is a read-only archive of the old Madabout Kitcars forum. New posts and replies are no longer possible, but every thread is still here to browse and read.
Made a Control panel for two additional guages, the fan button, and a slider Control for the fresh/recircular air function. Machined buttons for fan, recirc/fresh. Guages got new faces too in same style as cluster
And with outer "trim" panel
Dash finished. Hmmm, a nice Moto-Lita steering Wheel would look nice....
Thanks for comments! Glad to hear you got inspired! So am i when i jump around all the threads looking what others done and getting ideas, some i knock of, some i modify to my taste. That is what i find so amazing with kit cars, all the different solutions! Love it!
Bought nos window cranks and opening handle for fiat 128 on ebay. Made a bracket to fit on door.
Cut out new door panels witout recess for speakers (i won´t have a stereo) upholstered them with diamond pattern fake leather, carpet on the bottom like an old car, and some chrome trim just to get it look older.
Played around with paint and photoshop. (i use paint as i am not a good photoshop user). This is the goal for me. British racing green on a british kit car! Wheels are xxr that is unused leftovers from an alfa i used to have. I have used someone elses picture and modified it, if not okay just tell me and i will delete picture!
Thats just great Chris! I better shift up and get paint under the bonnet before all the pieces start droppning in!
Happy to hear you guys like it! I always have a hard time to decide about colours on cars. I belive the look off a car is decided by, Colour, Wheels and Stance! At least very important...
Andreas's kit out of the mould and trimmed. Bonnet will be bonded to the front section and the lower rear sections of the wings separated to form a flip front. The 3 front vents will be removed at the same time.
Fantastic !!!!
This is the christmas feeling i had as a small child! I really feel like a small child now! (probably because i will never really grow up and stop playing with cars)
Just terrific! Looks nice Chris! Cant wait to get the hands on those!
Got a bit more on the way today. I sprayed the engine bay and front end today. It really feels better when the paint is on! Big progress today, and panels is out of moulds to! A great Tribute day today!

Yes, stripes can never go wrong! Got them on a gt40 i built (me and my father in law up to the left) and also on a mustang i restored from a pile of rust...
Absolutely Nick! I saw your build and decided that a flip there must be! I asked Chris if he could do those mods, and for a very small amount he could. But i will keep the round holes in the front and no vents behind door window. Really like your build Nick!
Ah thanks. I am actually planning to reinstate the front vents, but squared oval.
I want to pipe it for brake cooling, but also split the left one to cold air intake for the engine.....
Nick
Havent been posting anything for a while because my internet connection been down... But i have been working some in the garage.
I think that will be just great Nick. Myself i have been thinking about doing something with the big inlet in the front, but i am not sure how i want it yet...
Found adjustable coilovers (BC Racing) for a great price, so i drove to get them in a hurry!
Dont need those anymore!
When i was in the move, i pulled down the front frame, a-arms and etc, blasted all and sprayed it all up with a very durable paint.
This is the finished engine bay. Had to reroute some wiring because of my front modification. Bought a nice bigger cooler, as they say they tend to overheat when ran at track... Havent done anything with this engine. Not even cleaned it, as the plan is to replace or build it up for a litle bit more power.
Machined some moulds for taillights (left), fuel cap mould in center (yes i know, totaly stole the idea from Nick, because it was looking sooo god!!!), and a threaded collar that will be molden in with a hose flange on it. Flip cap is there too..
I will use taillights that i got hold of a nos, used on fiats, ferraris, lancia stratos and gt40.
I will just cut out the holes, grind the edges out and, fit them from outside, lay some gelcoat followed by fibre glass, and done! (at least thats the plan)
