There seem to a lot of people who are not posting, as Sammios (now Ribbles) have popped up on eBay and YouTube from time to time.

I purchased a Ribble Pilot, then decide to sell the shell and frame, due to work commits, then last week decided to order a Miglia, as I have opt'ed for the two humps to be installed prior to it been delivered as I am not patient enough to carry out the body work fettling. Styling is very similar but with the Miglia I like the idea of the driving position been set back a bit further.

Looks better than it did taking space up in my lock up, glad it is showing progress.

Well solve a few potential problems last with a visit to "e£@y", and help from Paul L.

1. Door Hinges and Locks

2. Overdrive / Gearbox and Propshaft.

The car also includes a spare 1998cc Engine included, head converted for running on Unleaded fuel. Various other spares included such as steering rack and carburettors. Plus the roller trolley that I can use for my Miglia Build, just have to store the car for a later date in Lock Up, which is now starting to get over filled.

If the set in the car are any good, no problem, not sure what there like as I am away in Vietnam an collect car on the 17th on my return to the UK.

Wish I had known as I through a good set away not long ago when I have clean out.

These will be fitted with in the next few weeks, then the chassis will be painted (off white / cream or even Land Rover Lime stone, as per my 1978 Series 3 Hard Top).


Colour looks very yellow, but it fades.

Looking good , nice to see that your doing a nice job of restoring the chassis prior body fitment.

You should get good money for your bonnet if in good condition . I think Gary got £200 to £300 for his if i remember . Did you manage to source a gearbox ok ?

I give most the parts away to people that where restoring Triumph Vitesse and Heralds as I felt that guilty about destroying it, even though it was rotten.

With regards the gearbox I purchase another complete, but dismantled Triumph Vitesse, as this was the cheapest option, with needing the Overdrive, propshaft, switches etc. But I will look at restoring this in the future or it can be a base for another kit (possible). I have bought it unseen but the guy has owned the car for year then 5 years ago took it off the road for restoration, so I felt it was worth the gamble.

Just bought a few more items ready for when I get home.

1. Wiring Loom Ordered (20 - Way, so plenty of spare circuits)



2. Another Herald Chassis, 2 engine 1300cc + 2000cc plus three steering rack and a load of other spares. (so I will have a load of spares for sale when I get home as I only want a few bits from the job lot). Future projects.

4. Plus another Land Rover (why do I go on eBay!!!!!!!!!!!)

I think i have seen the wheels on the Triumph 2500 pi model. Possibly a Triumph stag.

Well it has been a epic day for ordering parts.

More Tools - At a good price

Plus - All Suspension, brake, and a engine head rebuild kit plus a load of other bits that will be ready for when I get home. So I have minimal work to do (only a little shot blasting then the chassis rebuild can commence.

I am thinking of fitting a Mazda MX5 radiator and twin fan system, has anyone done this or have any thoughts on the fitting.

Motorbike twin megaphone exhaust, road legal (but not sure if it will be too loud), but it should be a good engine tone.

Spare Wheel Storage

Think of using a spare wheel carrier like I had on my old Mitsubishi L200

I like the spare wheel carrier, but given all the cooling problems i had with the Lambo, i have to ask if you've calculated the volume of that MX5 rad to make sure that that it's at least the same as oem?

If you don't already have a rad then have a look on e-bay at the aluminium racing rads coming in from China. I'm sure you can get one of the right volume and they are dirt cheap nowadays!

Miglia with a boot

I like the ideas of the boot on the "Maserati A6 GCS"



My crude paint mock up, of a duo-hump Miglia with the Maserati Style boot.



Would possibly be able to use Austin / Rover Mini boot hinges, just want the boot be enough for a overnight bag and a picnic hamper.

Will have to consider moving the petrol tank to behind the drivers seat, will have to have a look at the Rotoflex set up in case the tanks fouls this area.

Can't wait to get home and start this build.

Gauges Ordered from the SpeedHut, but not sure which project I will use them on first, Trial fit (or Trial Fit and Use) on 1960 Land Rover V8 Project or use on the Miglia, hopefully they will look good.

Those speedhut gauges are nice aren't they? Just waiting for mine to arrive now I have supplied them with the Ribble Logo to on them.
Your a brave man putting that sized order in, I do mine in drips and drabs so that the cost isn't so apparent!

Viatron, I know my Mrs would kill me if she every found out how much I spend on my "Toys" as she call them, I initially tried to do this on a budget (this is now a chequebook build, which I know goes against the original idea of "kit cars"), but my budget was blown on the first page, so I then thought I might as well get all the parts I want, in one go, then I only have one bill to hide, plus I am building three 1960's Land Rovers (a 3.5 V8 Auto, 3.9 V8 Manual and 300TDI), so I have been looking at parts that are interchangeable (the gauges, the wiring loom, the lights, seats etc) to try and keep the cost down by buying multiplies, also I can trial fit parts between cars, to ensure the style fits what I want.

I wanted to use a logo, but because this may not stay on this car, it may only be a trial fit I thought I would forget about the logo.

I want there to similarities between the Miglia styling and Land Rovers that I am building, this will not be apparent straight away, but as my builds progress you will see (hopefully if I can make all my ideas reality).





Only time will tell.
