Losing weight to better fit your Sammio? Now that's what I call dedication!
Before I saw that you've had Intertrim seats modified to suit I was going to suggest you take a leaf out of Lamborghini's book - on their flagship Sesto Elemento they've dispensed with the seat base to save weight and just fixed pads to the floor -
If you find that your head is sticking too far up into the slipstream with your conventional seats it's something you could consider.
I'd fit a slim, angled pad on a solid backboard for the backrest and 'velcro' another slim pad to the floor as the base. The further forward the base sits, the more laid back the driving position and the lower your head will be, but you'll also veer towards the long arms/bent legs 'Italian Ape' driving position that you had before you modified the front of your frame, and that used to be a feature of almost all sporty Italian cars.
That's pretty much how my driving position is and you soon get used to it so long as there's clearance for your knees. Mind you, I had a couple of Italian Sports cars a few years back so I knew what to expect.

Yeah I tried a more sloped back design with the seat but then I need further legroom that I stretched to the limit already. Pads on the floor might is too uncomfortable, I guess I'll find out during the test drive how high the riding height really is. I can always increase the height of the screen....

I've done lot of modifications like you on the frame. I noticed that you have bought intarim seats and I wanted to buy these seat also for my car. Were do you safety belts come from ? I've got 48cm height on the car for my part.
Did you have problem when you change the alternator position with the belt. Do you have to change the way of the oil filter's tube because the belt is very close ?
Yes - same problems, different solutions!
I have not seen any interference for the pulley on the alternator it rotates freely, but have not started the engine yet... let's see...
Seats were 47 or 48 cm high - can't remember exactly. The quality was good - I ordered the vinyl ones as this can resist humidity better as leather. Be careful - the apollo seat is very narrow..
just wanted to update you on some of the progress on the 2cv Sammio in Holland. Although its a bit chilly and dark, I managed to get some more difficult things done:
- finished the headboard, lengthened body with polyester strip and made alu
headboard profile.
- Made a rear booth lid - not so easy as nothing is straight or symmetrical.. we will need some filler to really get it smooth.
- finalized sills of the body bottom
- started with new dashboard and gearshift tunnel
- aligned body on frame and adapted each wheel height - can be done very
easily by (un)screwing the suspension rods
- aligned rear of body to frame with a with special bracket - much better now.

First of all, my build is a 2cv so a little different as compared to Herald version..
Beware when you cut out a large booth like I did. There is tension in the fiberglass body and once you cut it it can have a different fitting. So before doing so, make a frame underneath the boot and support the body as much as possible around the edges of the booth lid. Mine needs some adjustment but will be OK I think. Initially I tried to use the 2CV door hinges and mounted everything. However, it needed too much space for the hinge and I decided to try it with standard "house door" hinges.. That works very well and needs very little room.
Installing the hump is tricky as well because the 2nd hump I got (which I wanted to use for the left side) is identical as the right one and they are not symmetrical.. So one side will have a big gap which you need to fill up.
I first aligned it properly, drew a line for the cut out and then started cutting. It fitted quite well although I had to do some trimming and filling.
I really like the looks of the double hump and the car looks great when boot lid is opened. It also will be very practical, the opening is really big. The only real problem is that the headrest will touch the seats when you open the lid so you also have to hinge the seat of the headrest. I will hinge the headrest.

Hello again fellow builders and Sammio enthusiasts,
its been over a year ago since I posted the last update on the 2cv Sammio project. I worked on and off on the project during this last year but some serious progress has been made I can say.
Let's start where I was - the body and frame were on the chassis, floor was ready as well as was the luggage compartment.
Hopefully I can upload some bigger size photos this time..
