Thanks for the comments guys. Colourwise we are going for the "Not enough hours in the day old race car barn find patchy scratched primer" look, a winner in my book (my book being "Hot Rod" magazine). The body will be coming off for tub/chassis restoration, so no point in painting yet.

Made the screens and headlight covers out of 2mm perspex, a bit thin but easy to work with when you are in a hurry

The original 'Special bodied' cars of the 50's and 60's are definitely being re-represented in recent times - a natural evolution , methinks , due to money being in short supply for the majority and the tightening of IVA regs etc....

The original Ford sidevalve and Austin 7 chassis being subsituted nowadays for the Triumph and Reliant examples....

Its the beginnings of an interesting few years , I feel , as more examples of 50's style cars emerge in the scene....

Chris , looking forward to seeing this one in the flesh in a more completed format than last time as it does look rather good.....

Thanks for the kind words Gary. You are so right about the IVA and money issues pushing the 50/60's re-body concept along. I am looking at more modern base vehicles, but they are limited and expensive.

Nahhh, TR6 steels. They are 4x114 PCD, so need adaptors, which were more than the wheels!

filling the niche in the market for quality kits at affordable prices
i for one will be looking at purchasing a kit

In an earlier post Tribute said :- 'The car we are putting together will be taken apart after the show and the tub repaired before we get the drive chain sorted and get it driving/MOT'd. If we get interest at the Exeter Show we will be taking moulds off and offering it as a kit as well.'

I personally think it looks great and look forward to seeing it tomorrow. It would be possible to make a frame like the Sammio and not use the Spitfire body I think. Definitely onto a winner I think.

can any of these kits A532 and MX250 be modded to fit an MGF, MGTF.
been looking online and they really are as cheap as chips with modern engines and setups. ok we have the dreaded gasket problem on the K series, but a new thicker metal gasket sorts that out.

Chris if you fancy having a bash at one, ive a 51 plate sitting in my garage doing nothing, im sure we could sort something out.

Wow that's a cracking looking car

Popped down to exeter today to pick up some parts for my exocet kit car and spotted the tribute stand me and my dad were impressed with the cars on the stand i perfered the mx250 and my dad prefered the d type replica so could be a future double build. Spoke with the guy on stand sorry missed your name and looked around the cars deffenitly better in flesh than in photos.
I have a mx5 already so could be a potential next build will need to sell the exocet first.
