Mike Hughes Special Build.....

29 Sep 2012, 7:18am
It looks even better in real life. I saw it yesterday and have realised that I have a whole world of body filler and sanding ahead of me. Having never worked with body filler or glass fibre or cars before I had no idea about applying it or shaping it. Now I realised why Chris at Tribute laughed when I asked if he thought one tine of filler would be enough.

Top tips:

Screw the bonnet to the body when fitting to make sure you don't pull the body too tight because the bonnet won't pull in enough. This was for the G46 but might apply to Sammios and Cordites.

Body filler over the joins and then use the spreader to reopen the cut lines before the filler dries.

Good question, wish I'd asked it but consider it seconded.

Nice to see you're getting your own business up and running Mike, and looking forward to seeing your V8 special finished.

Do you know what Gary's up to now? Judging by his past businesses, Sammio, Bay Area Rods etc, I'm guessing it won't be long before he's got another project under way. Would love to hear about it...

Good luck Mike. Nothing like being self employed :juggle: As Im sure you know, sometimes it feels like twice the work for half the money, but you do get 100% job satisfaction, and one is in control of ones own destiny. I think everyone should be self employed at sometime in their working life. It sure makes you look after every detail, and when its good, its very very good:eusa_dance:
So, when you taking a mold from your special?
