If it was me, I would go with the standard power (even 180 is quick in this car trust me!). Get used to the car then make more power at a later date.
But do the job properly. Chargecooler is a must. Baffled sump and remote oil cooler if going on the airfield and track days optional.

Its all good having power, but you have to be able to use it, you have to get it through tyres and onto the road. Without modeern driver aids like traction control.

Will see what happens with the rover radiator, its fine in the Civic type R kits, so should be ok with the VAG lump.

And I still not convinced yet that the Rover radiator will be up for the job. Will only know this once on the road and up to boost!
For reference, in a 270bhp 1.8t front engined application, my friend has no bother with a 625x302x32 radiator.
That's with the standard oil/water cooler, which incidentally isn't too bad at keeping the oil temp down on track.
A K03s 1.8t running circa 230bhp, in a 700kg car will not be slow! On track I suspect more time would be found by increasing cornering speeds, and braking stability, than an extra 200bhp.

Mark Matthews reckons their tt engined track car is running 275bhp. Theirs is the BAM code engine with standard internals and just a map for the extra power.
A client of mine also races in the special GTs at castle combe with his EVO running up to 680bhp on racefuel. If i go into the special GTs myself, i would like to kick his backside!
The caterhams and alike seem to kill off the 5EXIs at combe. They seem to have the edge down the straights.
Last time i was up there, the 5EXIs seemed to be running 1min18s laps, which is pretty quick, but i would have expected more. There was a Seat Leon 1.8t that seemed to be running quicker laps than our chosen lightweight rockets.

It's the suspension geometry, and confidence the driver has to lean on the car. I'm far from an experienced track driver, but the way on an airfield day I could gain on a cut slick equiped "standard" Marlin through corners, when I was running Toyo road tyres, was all the evidence I needed to justify my mods to myself.
If you are serious about running high power, the first place to start on your quest to fast track car, is to put the power to one side for now, and concentrate on the chassis dynamics - some triangulation wouldn't go amiss, along with some mods to pick-ups, suspension arms, and rack re-location.
A K04 turbo can manage about 270bhp before it runs out of puff, so Mark's claim seems fair. Do you know what management they're using?
They are using astandard audi ecu with a software remap.
I'm not persistently chasing power (at this stage) as i know it will be easy to do later. I am getting the engine now, as i need to make/move engine mounts before the chassis goes for blasting. (it was a bit of a rusty mess!)
What additional triangulation etc to you suggest and where?

I found myself a Donor car and took it Mark@Marlin on Saturday.
I've been reading some of the other threads and my donor car may suprise you !!!
Seat Leon Cupra (180bhp) with a six speed gearbox.
Mark is going to start dismantling the Donor and having a look, changing the engine mounts, to accept the Leon engine and possibly the 6 speed box.
Mine is going to be the first time he has fitted a Leon engine and gearbox to his chassis. So fingers crossed for him. This *IS* work in progress. and no-one knows what the outcome will be.
However if it all works out it seems I may have the first Factory approved Seat Leon based 5EXi.
Audi A3s for donors are a bit Rare, and those that are available are expensive. It seems alot of A3 donors are being shipped to Polan for recycling, hence not available in the price range, or age range we are after.

My engine is coded APP. Which seat did for 2 years before moving to the next version. I belive the main difference is a K03s turbo instead of a K03 which is on mine.
Given the mileage on the car 63K miles, I got a bargin.
Once it is all in I can consider a BAM engine as an upgrade later.
Not sure yet. Clutch should be ok.
As I said Mark is investigating everything.
That includes the 6 speed box, drive shafts etc.
I do know that Marlin now supply there own Pedal boxes, and from the looks of things on the race car these are all hydraulic.
If anyone can do it, Im sure Mark can.
If he can't then we will address that problem when it arrives.
It may mean buying new drive shafts and other ancilliaries as and when required.
If the 6 speeder goes in, then it will mean motorway cruising is more economic on fuel.
It is also worth noting that this years Chassis is different.
I know im getting what Marlin call the Race chassis,
one thing I noticed is there is no rear sub frame at the back. The engine is held in a fully welded cradle. As well as a few other things that have evlovled.
My chassis is not quite complete, there is some welding to do, additonal bracing, and powder coating, Which this year is as Dark Grey instead of white.
With regards to the 6 speeder it may need a change in the chassis. Which given the progress on building my chassis, seems like a good time for Mark to have a look and if he can make the necssary changes?

Yes, looks like that is the only difference between yours and mine (APP V AUQ)
I ended up not using the K03s as I had a reconned T28 from a Pulsar just begging to be used. Good for 350 with the Rover and Nissan engines.
I was looking for something complete, so i could drive it directly to Marlin, without incurring transport charges etc etc.
I'm hoping to have some return on my money if i sell the rest of the car, it does have a full leather interior.
If i dont sell it I will mount the driver seat on a board, attach a battery, and have a homemade electric leather reclining chair
