Joe's Alterative MX250 Hardtop

5 Jul 2016, 9:08am
Pics or it didn't happen! Or so people tell me on my build thread :)
5 Jul 2016, 9:20am
Yep.it took alot of thinking about but the rear screen and boot match up in width. It may look like an Alfa 1900 cc by now but ive left the finished shape to Chris. Short sloping roof long boot.

I agree Mazdarazmataz this thread has been lacking photo evidence updates!

Come on Zagmad we all wanna see!

It happens when I happens. Any updates of progress via pics is up to Chris alone. But it isn't far off what was shown before but possibly a more sloping roof. And the boot and bonnet extended and made wider to slow for the mx5's extra girth.

That's shaping up nicely, is that the finished version.
21 Jul 2016, 9:01pm
Yup. With gaps filled and smoothed over. This is the final shape and lines.

I tend to find 'original' designs too clunky for my tastes and usually prefer classic replicas, but that's a really great looking car in its own right.

Nice work Tribute and Zag!

Looking good. Is this just a one-off for Joe, or will moulds be kept for a kit?
22 Jul 2016, 11:13am
It's a Lancia Fulvia Zagmadato.

I would love one. Campagnolo alloys and a Lancia badge. It's the best looking non-production non-replica I've seen.
23 Jul 2016, 1:33pm
I think that depends on Chris.could look nice on the front of a mrs2000 kit with a lancia grill put in the middle like the Monte Carlo 037. Mid engine rally with muscle style front.
23 Jul 2016, 1:39pm
It brings some hints of corvette,Alfa, swb, lancia and even some muscle car shapes thrown in. The bonnet vent is eventually going to be shaped like The Alfa Romeo 2600 coupe and helps break up the extra width and length. If I can keep it for a year I'll add some more period custom features. Depends where my wife and I are living.

Cant wait to drive the mx again. My Dad would of loved a drive in it. Sadly he passed away late May of this year aged 65. Ive decided to call it the Alf GT Italia after my Dad.

Sorry to hear about your dad zag.

Did you see this? The sharper reminded me of your project:

The name is a very good tribute to your Dad.

Sorry for your loss.

Thank you for your comments. The build has taken shape nicely since the last visit. The lines are more defined and the outline filling in. boot lid area next .

ZagMad - Don't know how I missed your post about your dad first time around.

So sorry to hear that, but it sounds like you will have a nice tribute to him when you are done.

Good luck, Paul.

More progress

As Joe said, it's taking shape nicely now:

Looking very nice....!
That little ally trim above the window looks good, looks 'production..'
24 Aug 2016, 9:27pm
Looking good!

Chris, that bonnet vent will look nice streached across that G wagon bonet.....
25 Aug 2016, 7:57am
I saw it yesterday, It really looks as if it came out of Bertone in the late 60's early 70's.
The surprising thing that the pictures don't really show is the car has a touch of "muscle car" about it.

V6/V8 transplant and the right wheels and tyres and it wouldn't look Italian.

Im looking forward to seeing it complete.

Maybe a turbocharger. Give it bathhurst wine like on the vxr.

Just got back from Newquay. Lots of winding roads and awesome beaches. Perfect for the Alf gt .hope to go down again in may bank holiday next year should be a good run to clear the engine out and stretch its legs as it were.

Slight tweak hope ya like.

My commuter car has been put to pasture or squished. After its MOT the job list of things to do was more than what I paid for it 4yrs ago. So taking up cycling till I find another small engine commuter. Have been looking at smart cars
