I was looking at my brothers motorbike fuel cap the other day and thought that would look good on a tribute and be much cheaper than an Aston style and no need for cables like an Audi TT one plus they are up to MOT spec as they have to seal and lock.

But it was okay to drill loads of holes in then? :-)

Went through Adrian flux and just told them it was a tribute automotive cobra. They didn't ask that many questions so I assumed they were familiar with them. Can't remember the price but it was reasonable enough and limited to 5000 miles per annum.

275GTB on Z3

I don't want to hijack this thread but I have been following it for some time and value the informed opinions I have read. I have posted a new thread in the "Italian Replicas" section where you can see photos of my thoughts so far but my big question at the moment is - do you have any ideas for matching the Z3 door window shape to the shell of the 275GTB? The rear of the Z3 window is upright and has a rounded edge to match the hood but the 275 is strongly angled back and I need to fill the gap somehow. Thanks for your help.

The short version is that the simplest and most cost effective solution is to go for a two-piece sliding perspex arrangement as per an awful lot of period race cars -



Good luck with your 275 project, the Z3 does appear to be a cheap, plentiful and versatile modern donor.

Thanks Mr Towed. The two piece sliding arrangement might work but I would prefer to keep glass in the door and use plastic as a fill. I will look at Geoffs 250SWB this evening to see what he has done.

Well, they said to say if we didn't want our pics used on the tribute site so that's all I'm covering myself from - Commercial usage.

I know this news is a bit late, but KitCar have been running how to build a Kobra guide.

That's useful, considering the manufacturers never got round to doing a guide.

Can anyone tell me please the months the Tribute Kobra was built over in Kitcar mag as I want to buy the back issues - was it Dec2014 to Apr2015 inclusive?

Anyone planning to put a Ford 302 V8 (or 5.0 efi) into it? Should actually be quite easy. I speak from experience as I have already done this to an E36 coupe several years ago. The E36 has the same mounts/engine as the Z3 I believe, hence my interest in this build. If anyone needs pointers then send me a pm & I can try to help where I can.

I have photocopied the info page from KitCar Magazine. Have you tried contacting Tribute Automotive? I have been in contact with them for some help in building my own design of Ferrari 275GTB/4 tribute and they were very helpful.

From the IVA download referrd to above:
"1.9 When does IVA not apply?
• Agricultural or forestry tractors, their trailers and interchangeable towed machinery, together
with their systems, components and separate technical units and trailers designed and
constructed specifically to be towed by them.
• Quadricycles.
• Tracked vehicles.
• ‘Incomplete’ vehicles (except until October 29th 2014 in respect of an incomplete Heavy Goods Vehicle)
• Old vehicles (i.e. passenger cars and light goods vehicles over 10 years old and large goods
vehicles over 25 years old)."
What it doesn't say is what DOES apply to older vehicles!

Thanks for magazine info George but I think you've supplied the details for 'Complete Kitcar' which is a different publication to 'Kitcar' which is the one the build was done in. I cannot find any contact info online for 'Kitcar'.
