Chris do you have any piccys or ideas on the finishing of the fuel filler mate? Looks like quite a curve to fit to mate.

Just for information :
I was also searching for a fuel cap for my MX5 kit and the fuel filler had to be vintage look, chrome and a locking one with keys, bold-on type.
I didnot want the Monza type's,(although I like it on a Kobra,a must have, but not on the side), it is too big and most of them too expensive for my project.
So I bought this cheap one on ebay ( 15 pound, free P&P)and satisfied about the quality.
It's possible to bold it on the original filler tube and then it will be flush, but I filled up the preformed lower part with primer, made a 6 cm round hole and will extend the tube , so the cap will be just above the GRP kit.
It's not too bad but of course there's no manual so I rang Dave and got sent a picture of the rear light board minus the lens with labels of what each bulb is.
If you plug in the rear lights again you'll soon work out which bulb does what and then just snip that cable close to the bulb, join it with some more cable and run it to the new position. You'll need a ground wire to patch into each light too but you can run one ground cable to the light cluster and then run multiple joins off it to each individual light.

You make it sound so easy thank you lol so any idea how to incorporate the brake and side the main lights as cobra style only has indicator top and brake/main lights bottem?
Have a look at this which should help. Every light will have its own colour plus a ground (usually brown but it's black in the z3 lighting pod). You must extend each cable to the new lights plus a ground cable but as long as the black ground is run to each light (in series) it'll make it work.
You must have both rear sockets plugged in as there's a loop in the right hand which feeds the brake light on the left.
There are only side light and brake light at the rear. I'm adding low under mounted fog light and no reversing light. Fitting reversing sensors instead!

So it's as simple as chopping wires adding extentions to new and adding an additional ground ���� So am I not right in thinking that on most cobras there is and indicator light top, underneath that is dual side and brake light ?? then the dredded must have of a fog like like u say should be hiden away at the bottem��
That sounds right. Indicator, side/brake light and then separate fog and that's you sorted.
Front is more of the same. Plug in the bulbs again. Work out which is dip and full beam and then extend to new lights (which is a bit more awkward as you have to go back to the bonnet hinge and forwards again up the bonnet to the new lights. I patched into the main loom just back from the left hand lights to save running cable from the right hand and across the front before running backwards. If I recall correctly the right hand fronts were blue/white and blue/yellow.
Sorry for all the the questions but is there a way to incorporate the brake and side lights into the one light I bought land rover lights which has the one bulb... Is it a case of wiring the to wore to the same bulb? :-s
Your brake/side light - the bulb should be a double filament bulb so you'll have two wires plus a ground connection to make to it. There should be separate connectors on the bulb for all three wires.

And wire it so that the brighter filament (usually 21w) is the brake light. The dimmer filament (usually 5 or 6w) is the side light.
Once you've got them working... you can get LED bulbs as direct replacements if you want brighter lights.
If you fit LED bulbs in your indicators, you will have to fit ballast resistors in parallel with them to slow down the flash rate. It's because they use less power that it affects the flasher relay and speeds up the flash rate, the resistors compensate for that. Been there, done it.
Side vents came from an eBay seller of Dax cobra parts. Search for cobra side vents and it should turn up something hopefully. Not cheap though at about 90 quid.
I have a side indicator there. I think it is a requirement but not 100% sure.
Extremely tempted but just lost heart in painting anything at the minute and not sure about using vinyl. Would have liked gun metal grey stripes to match the wheels.
Thats the one I have! They came with a couple of threaded rods which I had to cut shorter and fibreglassed onto the inside of the panel. Good fit for the recess.
