I can see that fitting the bonnet and the doors will be the challenge, but hopefully it will all work out at the end.
Could you offer some advice and information/pics on bonding the body to the subframe, please?
D.
Thanks Deni, I think its coming along ok. I have not done much recently except to finish the passenger door. on with latch and looks OK. it took too long and was too hard! The drivers door, unfortunatey also needs reskinning. what i plan to do with this is different if I can get away with it. I will cut the door skin off completely, trim the door to fit, and try to stick the door skin back on to the cut down door. If this does not work, I will lay new fibreglass on the door skin like I did with teh passenger side.
For attaching the body, I had discussed this with my certifying engineer and he recommended expanding "foamfix+" (i think it was selleys?) what i did first was to drill through the fibreglass body and countersink, and tap into the metal frame in several places - over the rear cross member, 3 down the bonnet each side into the body subframe, 2 each in the door sills, and some in the back too. these were held in with stainless hex head bolts (of varying lengths). These bolts held the body in place while the foam expanded. I coated them with moly grease first so that if i want to, i can remove them and fill in the holes - but I think I will leave them in. Being stainless they are likely not contributing much to the strength of the glue.
I now need to trim the over expansion and seal those bits. No Pics as I cant really be bothered fighting with this at the moment.
Let me know if theres any points you want me to expand on.
