Joe's Alterative MX250 Hardtop

24 Mar 2016, 8:07pm
The roof line is eventually going to work with the mx5's roof and the door windows. So if you think like the lancia fulvia coupe hf it'll bit like that but lower and fitting in with window line scale. I really like the boot angular

Bit stuck on door handles . Was thinking of adapting what's their using a metal plate in the shape of the Alfa handles so its raised to flow with the doorskin.

Went for the Alfa handles in the end. Arrived today at 1pm. Along with the seals. Just need some taillight bulbs to finish the electrics. I've gone for a db radio so can get a clear signal.

Dear dsg4me. Chris and I have been looking at using the windscreen of a reliant scimitar as the rear screen just wondered if you could see how that looks on the Alfa Italia mix you came up with. If your able to do it by scale then can see the angle it creates . The Italia Alfa is looking more possible:-)

Thanks proof in the pudding. Chris has got a roof and glass surround so one step closer. Hopefully it'll line up some how. Looks good for the roofline.

FROM SOME ANGLES THAT LOOKS GREAT ..OTHER ANGLES ..NOT SO ...

Good effort though and I am sure they will sell ..

Yep I would of elongated the rear. Front looks great but the profile could do with lowering.

I'm aiming for the Italia look. Hopefully the stretching and fitting will start soon. Got some bulbs to get for the tailights.got some mesh to get as well for the grill.

Finally getting around to Joe's Alfa/MX5 project. Individual panels have now been 'glassed together before hanging the front and rear sections on Joe's car to see what needs moving where:

More progress tomorrow...

Nice work, I have been sceptical with the ever evolving, goal post moving concept behind this build but now I get it! A nice departure from the other Italian brand too.

Looking forward to the next update, good luck Chris, Dan and Joe.

That's looking good - and what's the car in the background? Reliant Kitten maybe?

Thats a GMC truck isn't it..?
This looks another interesting project..

Just for fun, and given the current forum tensions, I do mean for a bit of fun….

Evolving still further...

2015

Rear end gets inspiration from this.

And is taking shape

2016

Final design choice
< Touch Wood >

Very early stages of development, with roof still to be added.

Zagmad - Can I suggest you put the photoshop requests down and don't look at any other cars until this one is actually finished. :icon_twisted:

Jokes aside, Tribute have a good eye for what does & doesn't work, so I am sure you will be rewarded with a great car.

Chris - I'm looking forward to seeing this develop, as I love the way you (& Dan) 'cut & shut' everything get the final shape.

In fact, the way Tribute build things is my favourite part of the whole forum, not just this section of it.

So it is good to see it returning and there is still Kidge's 275 & Chris's MXico to come.

Good luck, Paul. :)

Don't forget mine Paul

I stopped posting pics as mine has been quietly evolving in the background.
It started out db4 zagatoish - to my ever changing sketch - to a exp10 inspired - the latest incarnation.

In truth I would have been happy with any of my visions turned into reality.
But a creative mind is a restless mind and while I can not disagree with you Zag is mad. I do relate to his creative journey.

Looks good . Hope it works aiming for the Italia look. Short small side window. Longer boot lid.
10 May 2016, 6:13pm
I saw the car earlier today , its working out quite well ...

Modesty will get you everywhere... big thank you to Gary for his help today to progress Joe's car.

Alfa panels are fitting surprisingly well. Rear end required widening, stock boot lid and surround retained:

Rear arches will require a reshaping after being shorten to match the MX5 ones they cover:

Front end will be the trickiest part, but with some extending and blending will be just fine:

No it's a Mazda B2200 pick up. It will be rebodied but that's another story.
