Have you got a solution for the boot strut/s? What does anyone else recommend other than extending walking poles (WCA??)

I did find that using the concertina effect fuel filler pipe from CBS restricted the fule flow so I bought 500mm of straight pipe designed for a boat. Fits perfectly and the fuel flow is much better, you still have to fill up with the trigger pulled half way but if you look at the picture on Smash's thread youl will see it is much better.

I used rivnuts to provide tapped holes to mount the flange as getting nuts on the mounting screws was just about impossible. Don't forget to provide a drainage hole otherwise it will fill up with water.

I don't really want anyone fitting the 4-5/8ths filler cap, at the moment I can comfortably say I have the biggest on the forum and would like to keep it that way!

Top Tip

Check MOT regulations first!

Took it in for its first MOT since the conversion, all passed but it was pointed out that if fitting a single rear fog light it has to be fitted on the drivers side.....Doh!

So now I have to reposition it which involves cutting the body work which I wanted to avoid.

I was told/had to put my fog light in the middle.
Once passed I deleted it

They can be central or to the offside for use if driving on the left.
Some manufacturers fit them central to suit both market situations.

Just move the steering wheel over...

Is it me or have Z3 2.8's suddenly gone up in value?
Seem to be going for silly money.
Was bidding on a 97 2.8 on Copart today, front end, cat c value was only put at £1400. One front wheel turned out and pushed back. Bit of a risk could be a wishbone or a bent chassis leg. It did have a very nice red leather interior and a good looking roof, thought it was worth a punt a £500>£600.
Went for £1250 + buyers premium

The fog light can be central, mine is mounted on a frame and swings down for the MOT man and up for every other day of year ��

Jag - Good luck sorting out the fog light.

I used reflectors with build in LEDs to pass the MOT rules on both reflectors and fog lights.

My latest cock up is the front indicators. Being rather clever I fitted a set of chrome Harley indicator bulbs. That means that the yellow of the indicator bulb doesn't show through and give you the fried egg look.
Unfortunately, the chrome bulbs are a tiny bit bigger and when the MOT tester left the hazards on during the test, the lenses started melting!
I've ordered a pair of glass lenses, whats the betting they don't fit the plastic light version?

I've painted normal clear glass bulbs when I couldn't find amber/ yellow ones in the size I wanted. That seemed to work ok. In hind sight it did have the fried egg look , but I didn't even think that at the time !

Hi when I took my kit for its first mot I tried winging it without side repeaters had to take it home and fit some chrome jag ones sourced from a scrap yard, car has been off the road for a while repeaters not working as bulbs rusted into holders drilled them out and got 2 white £4.99 led dash lights from Halfords soldered them onto wires re fitted lenses, job done. originally had led number plate lights but found them too white and modern.

If I fit LED's in the front indicators the flash rate is too quick.
Don't want to have to fiddle about fitting resistors.

I have fitted LED's in the front parking lights but 2 sets have blown so I'm going to fit normal bulbs.

did not know there was a flash rate but we live and learn, have an idea to get led bulbs for number plates but coat them with wood dye to soften them.

On my Cafe racer motorcycles, I run a mix of LED's and bulbs for the indicators along with a special flasher unit that automatically corrects the flash rate.
The Z3 doesn't have a flasher unit but a double realy, very complicated and not worth the trouble, stick with bulbs!

my base is mx 5 seems to work, love the cafe racer look though.
