I'm massively self consious that my paint job isn't up to the std of some of the garage queens likely to be there, but then again another thread did make me think that it just looks _lived in_ so as long as i don't tell people that it's just done, i think that it pulls off the "in need of a renovation" look quite well


I've purposefully not done anything to it over the past few weeks as i didn't want to tempt fate, but i did pick up a new thermostat from e-bay and i thought i'd quickly flush the rad and fit that yesterday as surely that couldn't go wrong!

But this is ME that we're talking about!


The new thermostat was simply rubbish! When compared to the old one the quality of the new one is dreadful, it didn't open properly and it didn't open until the engine was much warmer So it's been swapped back out again and the old one is working fine with the newly flushed system. ho humm.
Which is fine, BUT.....
When i was changing it, the bonnet fell shut and my bulge now has a small patch of crazy-paving courtesy of a screwdriver that was left on the top of the thermostat housing.


Just adds to the lived-in look that i was aiming for all along - honest -

Someone once told me that once you get a classic or kit car then you'll never be quite "finished" as there's always something to do.

Turns out they were right

I've now corrected my behind-dash wiring to add in the voltage stabiliser, so now my fuel and temp gauges are reading right! and i've also started adding in the wires for the map light and in the box of bits left over from my last project i've found an ideal toggle switch that i can use.

I've also managed to acquire the tripometer reset fly-lead, so i'll fit that in the dash some time soon. Although i've also picked up a Smiths volt gauge, so i may do an entirely new dash panel.... i haven't quite decided yet.

I've also shamelessly thieved an idea from Tony (ta matey) and added some more period detailing to the front end. Although my badge is different to Tony's as mine is fitted on the drivers side and his is on the passenger side. See! it's not a copy, it's just a "tribute"

And as an end to my build thread (which I've just re-read and got a bit nostalgic over!) as of 35mins ago I am no longer the owner of a Sammio Spyder

So , If you think you saw this car at a local MOT station in Germany , why all the nonsense about the trailer looking German ? Why not just say .... I saw this Sammio today ?

The car is very well documented on here , the owner foolishly sharing his personal images with the rest of mankind , and you have a keen interest in this marque as well as others , so surely , if you saw this car , you would know it was this car ?

So, how's the Lambo coming along Dave? Do you have any major work to do - drivetrain changes, fresh interior, respray etc? Would love to see some pictures of progress.
