Hi Marc,
I bought the 2k from Nuagane who sell on EBay, they mixed the colour to order, if you call them they advise on quantities of thinners, etch, primer , colour and clear coat...
Pondered long time on if it was safe to use or not, all the talk on the net suggests full air fed mask etc, however I found Gersons do a normal filter mask that they state is 2k compliant ( the only manufacturerso gave it a go.
There was no ingress of fumes / odour and considering the strength of smell when I stood outside it was a good indicator that it was working, no coughing, or any complaints afterwards...
If it was to be a regular job then I would invest in the air fed kit, but one off the mask was fine, and no more than4or five hours exposure total..

Not wishing to frighten anybody but there is no none air fed mask that is safe and suitable with isocyanate, you can't smell or taste isocyanate.
The information for masks sold on ebay say suitable for 2k but if you read further down they also state "Government legislation states that anybody spraying with isocyanates should always use a positive pressure air fed full face respiratory breathing system for full protection".
One of the problems with a cartridge mask is the fitting to the face, the seal has to be 100%, facial hair cause's problems with any face mask that relies on a good seal around the face, this i know from the various reps we get in at work as i have facial hair which they generally comment on.
I suppose its up to the individual if you want to take the risk but i thought it prudent to say something, no offense meant towards yourself psycho pops.

Swifty, no offence taken and the debate is extensive on wether or not the face mask provides adequate protection or not, I believe it is Sweden that has passed these masks as fit for purpose.
Due to my work I have a face fit test kit which is used to ensure the mask is a good seal to the face as we are all different in shape, I believe the reason why no one will state a face mask is adequate is because they cannot control the exposure time or exposure levels the end user will be subject to and not many home users can measure their exposure levels. If a mask is sold categorically stating it is a 2k mask and someone used it beyond the limits and suffered harm as a consequence then the manufacturer would be liable. While the isocyanates are odourless the other chemicals are extremely strong and would very quickly identify a leak that developed during spraying. The cartridges were rated correctly for particulates and vapour and I am confident I was not at risk, I will say I had the garage doors and Windows either side open to allow a free flow of air to minimise build up in the garage. While this worked for me I would not say it was correct for anyone else to follow suit.

My favourite part of the build as I start to dress the car, really pleased with how my 3rd brake light/number plate light turned out. Managed to keep the back end very simple..
Interior nearly finished photos when complete..

That's the way Gary, the only issue I've had with long lay up time was a front bearing flatted and rubbers on ball joints perished, all were new..
The rest has sat patiently waiting..
Well some positive news but not directly relating to the car.
After several "life events" leading to very slow progress on my build I'm finally back to work, as of Monday I'll be heading off to Saudi to start my new job, this will mean funds available and hopefully allow for those odds and sods to be finished ready for the next seasons motoring.
I'll be on a five on five off rotation so should be able to crack on once back again, meantime please keep posting so I have some reading while out there..

Hi everyone, yes I’m still kicking....
Eight years, and three countries since I began this journey it’s finally time to let her go..
I don’t have the know how to register her in France and the realisation that my home restoration project has to be priority I’m going to have to list build 58 in the coming weeks.
So close, yet so far it’s been a labour of love and kept me sane through some hard times.
Is EBAY international the way to go? If your a European buyer she’s already located the right side of the water however still UK registered.
Thanks Towed, it’s as good as finished and I have had a short run on the road. (private of course) Will upload a vid if I can figure it out. It’s only the registration that snookered me otherwise it would be a keeper...
