Yep, but a lot of photographinghoto:, listing time and arranging to be around for buyers to turn up , so didn't account for any of that in the equation, but still surprised by the amount I managed to recoup, mostly in the tyres and wheels, mirrors and lights.

Not wanting to get involved in a 'my Dad's bigger then your Dad' style thing but; I would have welcomed any where near that for my MX5 parts sold for my 250 build, got £30 quid for my rear bumper and that was it. Everything else went to the tip. Even had to cut my bonnet in half with a grinder to get it in the boot of the car. Not impressed!
Car came back today as a 'painted shell' I.e. All panels fitted to car and aligned/painted, but I now have to fit everything on to it and undertaken permanent wiring. Car arrived just as the heavens opened so got in under cover quickly, haven't really had chance to see it in sun light yet, but it is shiny for sure, will start putting more pics up as I go, however need to let paint settle for some days before before touching it, I know everyone's keen for more pics and I promise to post more soon.
My first impressions of paint are very good, and I am told in sunlight it gives a pearlescent shine too.
The paint that was used to give the brushed alloy effect needed to be applied at a high temperature, too high for a GRP surface (Warping and shrinkage), but am told would be ok on a metal surface. They did try it at a lower temperature and it came out a matt grey finish. So it was re-done. I was looking for a chrome finish originally and brushed alloy was the nearest I could get to it, so this is why we tried it. The paint was an effect paint from Germany and I am told was high metal flake content but really runny like water, unlike normal paint which is much thicker in consistency. So I ended up with a silver high reflective finish paint, which is bright and shiny and much closer to my original thinking. The car was painted gloss white before the effect paint was applied, apparently this makes it more reflective. The whole process took sometime with considerable amount of hours to get it to where it is now, which I am grateful to all concerned
Please kindly don't ask me any technical questions on the above or flame me if you think it is nonsense as this is what I have been told and I am certainly no paint expert or anywhere close to being one.
Can't wait to see the pictures. I think this finish is going to be a "love it" or "hate it" with nobody in the middle.

I must say that the more I saw the pictures of the build , the more the dove grey gel coat grew on me.
You must be so excited to be close to the end. I am very keen to see the paint effect, although it may be one that pictures don't quite do justice to. I really like the look from the teaser pic and the description.

I know you have waited a long time for it and I had heard they were not enjoying the job.
Your car looked great in grey and I had enjoyed the build so as long as your happy with the finished car there is nothing more that matters.
Make sure they give you whatever is left in the paint tin, very useful for minor scratches and chips. It could also be worth buying an extra litre in case you need to paint any of it at a later date. Chances are it will be a bugger to match, that is if you can still get the paint.
Here you go, I moved it out of garage tonight to have a closer look, The door gaps are mega compared to what they were and paint is nice and shiny even in low light of the day, cant wait to get it out in full sunlight.
Obviously there lots of work to do now and I will have to be extra careful putting it all back together.
Even with what you have shown so far I like it a lot. Strangely enough it is so shiny it would be tempting to go black on some of the bright work to complement or highlight it
