I was told that number plates will not pass the sva test as there edges dont have the correct radius so dont fit any at all.
In fact if you can get away without fitting something then its quite often better left off the vehicle until it has passed the test.
ah makes sense sometimes you have to wonder! I'll pull them off
EDIT: well I just managed to get those plate holders off. The body sealer was already drying. Reassuring to know that its bloody difficult to pull off once you stick something down with it!
Looking at your pictures i see you have cable tied brake hoses to suspension arm. Now im not 100% sure but the SVA says that brake hoses must not foul any part of bodywork or suspension so tieing them to suspension may be a failure!
Boot floor - need to see if we can find some under construction photos. This was a lot more work that it looks from the pictures! There is a wooden construct underneath that props up the floor, bit like a jigsaw. This provides a nice solid base for it to sit on. The holes for the seatbelts and fuel pipes are rounded off with a router. The front end is also rounded off. The floor is in two pieces which means it can be taken out with the tub still in place. Its bolted at the front and will be wood screwed to the frame below. There's also two side piece that will be velcro'd in.
Elephant ears and E marked repeaters to pass SVA and rear view with rubber surround, you can't see that much in the mirror so we're experimenting with a small convex mirror, dunno if this is SVA passable but it certainly give a much better view of the surroundings!
Also spend a few hours playing with the front camber and toe settings so the car would auto centre when its rolling along. I think it's there now but need to take it for a drive really.
Patrick cant see what the back of your interior mirror looks like but the post i had mine mounted on falied the SVA as it has non radius edges facing forwards. I had to cover mine with some rubber to get it through the test.

This is what mine failed on. I rubber "p" clipped mine. Or another way the SVA man was "that was a good idea" said, run cable tie around suspension but through a off cut of rubber hose and tied to brake pipe.
If this don't make sense, I can take a picture of what I mean.
So rubber pipe on the brake line, then that zipped to the suspension?

Firstly here are some pictures of the underside of the boot floor. All these pieces interlock and leave gaps for cables, screws, brackets etc. The birch ply will be given a protective coating to stop is soaking up water.
Today we installed all the carpet (except in the boot):
The whole things like a giant speaker box with some very complex edges, the came with carpet that doesn't quite fit! There's a step by step on the page here. We needed one and a bit cans of spray glue overall.

I have the Marlin suppiled carpet and was thinking of getting some better quality, but that stuff does blend together well.
Where did you get your dashboard mirror and would you recommend it?

Thanks yeah, carpeted a few sub boxes in my time. The biggest PITA jobs that I ever did carpeting wise where the kick builds in my current car and the headunit surround:
INTERIOR MIRROR - CHROME SURROUND
Adjustable stem,
two screw fixing.
£25 each + £3.50 P&P
You can't really see that much but I don't think it would be any better on another flat mirror. If you could find a convex one that would be spot on. The little round convex mirror I found in Halfords.

Started work on rear quarter panel covers made from 1mm ali.

I hope that they will be better quality than the Marlin ones. The stitching certainly looks better in the picture! Will see when they turn up next week.
Hand brake gaiter installed, this was an eBay item made from leather, much nicer than the one that comes with the kit! Do have a nice handbrake handle but it wont pass SVA edge testing so here's a budget rubber hose item for the interim! Gear gaiter installed, may put the stainless ring round here to finish it off. Do have a nice knob to go on here, the donor ones is broken and wont stay on anyway.

Gear gaitor now completed properly. Handbrake gaiter, this has the original E30 rubber cover (top part of rubber only) underneath so there''s nothing sharp to cause an issue at SVA.
The boot carpet is now also in place and the side panels have been covered as well.

Max inspects the interior and boot before they went back in!

With the car in this state took is for a bit of spin on the drive way again - it feels damn quick when you put your foot down a bit!
List of stuff left:
Move the indicators at the front to a position where they will pass SVA
Set up the speedo and test
Take it to the MOT test station and see if it will fail emissions
Get the tracking done properly
Small carpet strip along back behind seats
Bleed the coolant system
Stick the rubber round the insides of the door down
Get SVA test date and get it on the road!
I'm sure there will be something else I've forgotten.
