Adam's mx250c build

7 Jan 2017, 8:47pm
well, that's it, the boy (Adam my son) has done it. Picked up the mk2 mx5 today and the kit will be ready next month.
Guess I'm going to have dirty hands and a bad back again.
Hopefully both our cars will be at stoneleigh this year.

You're secretly really pleased, aren't you :)

I know I will be if my 7yr old is interested in cars when he's old enough to drive!

The before and after

My son is stating to appreciate cars as much as I do.
There is something special when you can share your passion with a loved one.
I will watch with interest as the two of you are building this.

Im sure he has very different plans for his, any details

From preliminary conversations he is going black with chrome.
Wheels are ordered and in the post :)
Interior is already stripped out.

Am having a problem with the alternator at the moment, sometimes it charges and sometimes not!
I had a look at it today, no hope.

The wheels are coming tomorrow so I'll be sure to post some pictures.
How ironic the name I chose about 4 months ago when my dad first showed me the site has become, seeing as I had major issues getting quotes. All sorted now though, just have to pay out my a*** for the first year

At least...IIRC I had that pain for a good 5 years (from 18 through to 23ish). It's not that far improved now despite being 32 and having a clean history TBH!

Truly organised crime!

Good luck with the build!

We have been busy!
I have been getting down and dirty replacing engine parts(belts Rotten hoses etc) while adam has been ordering parts.
Not sure who got the better deal there?
Got a complete engine service to do incl cam belt next week then, as Adam says, the fun bit can start.

Pictures to follow.

A busy afternoon. Just ran out of light and warmth.

New steering wheel fitted. Was not as easy as you would think

Busy, cold day. More to do tomorrow.

Had a very successful day, a minor miss hap with the fuel filter but it now drives really well.
I am quite envious, it's going to make a great car.

Another delivery today of exhaust and lowered suspension, another busy weekend awaits.
25 Jan 2017, 7:00pm
Is the front being modified?
Vents being filled in etc?
25 Jan 2017, 7:25pm
Not the front, but no vents in the rear behind the wheels.
29 Jan 2017, 4:56pm

So, after four hours we have managed to swop one corner of suspension!!
29 Jan 2017, 7:11pm
I think you have put the spring in upside down...

:-)

Finally, all four corners finished. New shocks, lowered springs , new drop links and plenty of paint and under seal. Took longer than I planned.
