sad to say it but think I am going to list my SWB250 on ebay this weekend only dune 50 miles since the last mot and just re taxed it to sit on the drive. at a push my hot rod should be ready for stoneleigh, I am 3k into the build and still have loads to do so the spare cash would not go a miss.
nope been working full on my hotrod figure nocking the price down cost of the paint or offering to have it dune for cost. just testing the water dose or doesn't go. if not I will have it painted then take it to the show it will sell for more at the show painted just rather spend on the rod at the mo
It will be interesting to see the price it reaches, although I'd like to keep mine so if yours fetches a high price, I don't need to know.
It's going on my watch list though.
well its not fully finished but almost just needs paint, I have set the reserve high in the hope the offers flood in and someone comes over with the cash. still miss my GTO so an other could be on the cards soon.
Yeah but unlike eBay, Tribute weren't at Beaulieu selling the kit @ £3.8K alongside the car that made big money. Any chance of really big money won't come through eBay for exactly that reason.
well if it dose Not sell I will get it painted and change a few bits as I always do. 3598 views and 292 watches been offered a porsche boxster and cash so far. loads of messages for how much, if it dose well I will build an other just to sell on.
Don't think there's any chance of really big money on eBay because Tribute is advertising the kit almost full time on there for £3.8K - that severely limits the ceiling of an unfinished car.
The original black Tribute only made 6K. The Las part complete they sold for 5K on here - if anyone will hold prices down ironically it's them.
Beauliue sale had no cross reference to the kit to gauge value. Big money sales won't happen on eBay .

This is all going a bit pear shaped. The sole point I was really trying to make is that really big money i.e. this £18k everyone seem to be obsessed with won't be achieved, I don't think anyway, on ebay for a non finished car. That's all!
And I maintain the potential problem you still have is that the only SWB sales in UK on ebay so far are Tributes so, like it or not, what they have been prepared to let their part built cars go for sets the market value so far on ebay. To a large extent anyway. Google will reveal that to any potential buyers.
Your GTO was a beauty so not surprised it made good money. It's a real shame you can't get the coupe painted and F badged up cos I think you'd make some proper strong 5 figure money then plus you're trail blazing - there's no benchmark to compare with.
re: Nubodi - they don't actually sell cars - they do contract builds. Their fees are all labour - anyone who'd had one built by them (such as me - no, I can't do it for myself as you point out) would be looking to recoup, at the very least, their costs on resale. And believe me, my costs are way more than yours (by choice I should add) so if/when I sell I won't be undermining anyone!
Its hard to compare like for like because the Tribute SWB is still new to the market. Ebay is the place for bargain hunters , if you want to sell by auction you would be better off going to one of the big classic car auctions . They will attract people with money to spend and a well built SWB should achieve a "good" price. Otherwise classic car shows or an advert in one of the top end classic magazines would be the other options.
