Hi Chaps,
Well; I’m almost ready to go ! The car’s almost loaded.
I remember doing a show in Paris a few years ago . On the way back: I called into a garage where a French guy, having noted my exhibitors badge, said “You have been exposing your self – Wee?”
Well, there’s clearly no cure for it ! I’m still doing it 20 years on !
Didn't see any 5exi builders, but had a chat with Terry & Mark.
Also met Kartman (Trevor from Dart Cars), Dave Brookes (DB Replicas) and Steve Hole at Totalkitcar too. Nice talking to you all.
Best thing I saw there was a Healey 3000 replica in the carpark. The guy had built the chassis himself & fitted a Cosworth engine & 4x4 system. Also made most of the other bits for it. Looked the business!
Best kit at the show?
IMO the Land Ranger - How to turn your old Range Rover into something twice the size. Pointless on the road, but definately the car with the most presence there.
Pointless cars?
IMO (must stress this). The kitted MX5 & MR2.
The MX5 looked like a . . . well, an MX5. Just add a different front end and a rear spoiler.
The MR2 I think was supposed to look like a Mustang (?). Why? Take a half decent handling, mid engined and aerodynamic MR2 add a body kit that makes it look like a front engined muscle car.
Extra weight, loss of aerodynamics and the engine behind the driver. (Again) Why?
Well at least it should have massive luggage space up front!
If anyone can help me to understand these cars, please do.
I saw TINKA, PURPLE AK (who hadn’t actually turned purple on his journey by the way ), Neil O, FcukRuss, MikeT and a few others from the Cobra forum. I don’t suppose you mix with those ?
Notice you didn’t mention Sally, Peter , Floyd and Vince (the whole RVD crew). I had a meeting with the last two on the list – my ears are still ringing!!!
It was a very good show for me. About 2000 copies of Kit Car magazine were sold at the door (the November issue had the show guide in it) for a £1 each. Sold loads of other mags from the stand too. Nigel, Tom and Ian were there – letting me ‘chill’ (not that that’s too difficult in November. LOL !!!)
It was really good – I’m looking forward to next year’s event already ,
Den.
It was a good show
I had the erg to buy one of the little car out the front but managed to resist
Had a chat with terry and mark i now know that part 3 of me kit should be ready for the 3 DEC
Also went on a bit of a shopping spree 24 Cans of spray paint and nothing to paint ( YET...... )
Blimy Mark,
Surely you got a better picture than that – I look like I’d just done 10 rounds with Mohamed Ali (SP?)!
Had you just asked me to buy a round of drinks – as indicated by the furrows in my brow and my horrified expression?
