Fiat Twin Cam engine

Designed by Aurelio Lampredi the Fiat Twin Cam was an advanced straight-4 automobile engine produced from 1959 through 1994 as a Fiat/Lancia engine and from 1994 onwards with a redesigned cylinder-head as an Alfa Romeo engine (replacing the original Alfa Romeo Twin-Cam in all front-wheel drive Alfa Romeos). Excluding the Alfasud (and derived) cars which used an original flat-four Alfa Romeo "boxer" engine As the name implies, it was a DOHC design, which was quite unusual in the late 1950s. A few non-DOHC variants were also produced. The engine was produced in a large number of displacements, ranging from 1297 cc to 1995 cc and was used in Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo automobiles.

Applications:

  • 1966-1985 Fiat 124 Spider/Coupe
  • 1967-1972 Fiat 125
  • 1972-1984 Fiat 132/Magenta
