Update Two
Today I received my updated A352 V5 from DVLA.
Apart from the issue date and document number at the bottom left, it's identical! See DVLA6 below.
My project is therefore still a Triumph Spitfire with a sports body. That's as accurate a description as any, I suppose.
Quite why it's PLG rather than Historic I know not. Maybe this will be updated when I apply for 'tax'? Any ideas anyone?
Next stop, MOT station .
Regards, Mick

Hey, come on now, you can't expect them to do more than one thing at a time. I think you have to apply separately for Historic.

Mick, you can only change the taxation class when actually taxing the vehicle.
It's in the small print on your V5c
When your ready to tax it just take your V5c ask for historic tax and a free tax should be issued, the V5c will be taken and returned up-dated.

Rolling 30 year Historic?
What's the word on the 'concession' historic status?
I heard it was proposed to make it a rolling 30 year thing to fall in line with some other vehicle legislation in Europe.

Hi Paul, the "historic" tax class is now a rolling 40 years.
The tax starts on 1st April of the 40th year, ie; a 1975 vehicle will become "historic" tax class after 1st April this year (2015).
It's all down to the date of manufacture and not the date of registration.

Post Script
On Thursday I received a very nice letter from DVLA (see below).
Enclosed were Chris's invoice and the two photo's I sent, as well as a prepaid envelope. Perhaps the nice man is hoping for a thank you card?
End of saga.

Mick O'Malley - Congratulations on getting your paperwork sorted out.
Good luck with the rest of your build, Paul.
PS
I sent a thank you card to the nice man at the DVLA who sorted my paperwork out.
( And to be fair he did earn it, given the pig's ear I made of the process. )

Hammerhead - Congratulations on the V5C update.
These days, that is all you need to do, there is no inspection required (unless the DVLA asks for one), so it is indeed "Job done".
Cheers, Paul.
PS
Would you be able to edit your post to remove the HUGE quoted section?
PPS
Do you have any more details on your build, as you should know we like photos.

Well done on the V5 changes. You made it sound relatively simple, almost as if DVLA have actually got their act together!
I see you used a rather nice Spitfire as a donor, do you have a Spyder, a Cordite or is it a hybrid of the two?
Looking forward to seeing some photos.
