That bulkhead looks like great vfm for the condition. I spent more than that on a couple of new floorpans.

I think that's what you'd describe as a bit of a "do-er upper" opportunity!
It's not far off the condition my donor was in when i bought it and for only a bit more than i paid. Offer them £800 for it and if they say yes then you've got yourself a bargain, and a lot of hard work ahead

The rear ones are, but the front ones are a bit towards the rear of the arches.
I think that is most likely due to all the faff i had with fitting my bonnet as it turns out my car was a 13/60 that was converted to Vitesse Mk2 spec with a GT6 engine and gearbox! So while "in theory' it should be identical, it does seem to be just a smidgen higher/more fwd than it should. Hence the bonnet bulge! Also i did it on my own, in a small garage while the car wasn't running so i couldn't judge fitment as i progressed

Thought I'd bring this thread back to the top as it's proving to be a useful photo resource for panelling out the interior
Also found Gary's original Spyder thread today, I'd never actually read it before and I found it fascinating -

Thanks for that Mister Towed. I wonder if someone should be printing and/or electronically archiving these threads for future generations, as there are some interesting insights into the thought processes of the designer.

[Cough]
Useful Links Thread.

PS
Mr T - The link to that original thread is in the first post of this thread.
(Which is why I didn't link it separately).
Although the link takes you to the last page & not the first.

THAT TAKES ME BACK !
These are actually pretty rare bodies and to see another one is weird !
look how shallow the body is ....I added about 5'' to the depth and they still benefit from dropped floors....
To any interested parties , I have a screen and surround and a damaged but repairable hardtop !

Do I detect the inspiration of the original 'German' style Sammio bonnet?

For those who aren't aware of the evolution of the Sammio Spyder, the way I understand it is that Gary had always worked in the specialist car industry, designing and building hot rods using low budget mechanicals - Cortinas, Beetles etc. He rather fancied having a Porsche 550 replica, but didn't want to pay what they cost, typically £12 - £15k. He then bought a Nikkri and set about adapting it to look as much like the 550 as he could, hence the 'German' bonnet. He took a mould of the modified body and sold the Nikkri to someone who expressed an interest in the car at his body shop. They then used the car for a while, driving it to Le Mans, before selling it on ebay with a link to Gary's hot rod company included in the post. Gary then started to get interest from people wanting him to build them one, then requests for a bonnet that could take a Vitesse six cylinder engine (pay attention Nike), and the company was born. 100+ sales of Spyders, many of which are on the road, plus a few G46's hiding in the wings means that, as far as kit car companies are concerned, the Nikkri spawned a pretty successful nephew.
Please feel free to correct any of the above Gary, as it's only what I've picked up from the car mags and 'tinternet.
