How long can you wait? I'll be making some out of ali but workload means I'll not have time for it until the end of May. It'll cost you postage plus about five bob for the ali for either a round ball type or long one like the C Types had.

Thanks for the offer S and WCA, but i really want to make it myself. I have bought some ali 50mmx100mm. I have done the shotblasting, trying the welding. i have the powdercoat equipment/oven, and will probably do everything else as well. Something i am looking for is a DVD on rebuilding my 6cyl. engine? Here the picture of the gearknob.

If you do stumble across a vid please share the link as i've always said that after an initial summer of fun, i'll most probably be rebuilding mine in the winter.

Re-bushing
The picture of the vice and ply reminded me of all my efforts in getting the new bushes in using G clamps, large hammer and all sorts.
I then had a divine inspiration moment and got some threaded rod, and washers some sockets to pull against....plenty of washing up liquid and heyho a bush replacement tool....they wound in with no effort at all... The removal of the old ones was a bit of a bitch.....I drilled through the rubber and then had an old log with a hole in....placed an old bolt a washers in the bush and beat hell out of it with a lump hammer....in the end with suprisingly good results. |
gary after seeing you picture, i jumped on a lathe and knocked up this little beauty, with sammio engraved on tophttp://i1232.photobucket.com/albums/...arknob2004.jpg, just to tease you a little...

That's cruel, Mulberry. You cut me deep...

Hmm, lathe you say? I wonder what industrial injuries I could inflict on myself with one of those bad boys?

Does anybody know what the thread size is on the gear lever? Is it 3/8".

I still seem to be busy doing nothing... just faffing around instead of cracking on, like a lot of you! never mind, i will be happy with a rolling chassis this year.
So i have been cleaning some parts so i can shotblast and powdercoat, and start to use up those many boxes of new parts. Also bought a valve spring compressor to start stripping down the engine (head). How does a leaf from the spring, break? And i have cut lots of little plates to patch the rear outriggers. http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...4/IMG_6678.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...4/IMG_6679.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...4/IMG_6681.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...4/IMG_6682.jpg http://i1090.photobucket.com/albums/...4/IMG_6683.jpg Looking forward to next week.:tea: |
Dashboard clocks, question. The chrome rim, does it twist off/ or do i lift the tabs up?
|
Gary
Mine twisted until the tabs lined up with slots and popped off. Oh and if you need a standard rear spring I have one from my Herald but I dont know what it would cost to send? Cheers Pops |
