I've just been catching up on your build and it's looking very tidy!

Out of interest, what is the chrome handbrake lever that you're using? Is it one of the Lokar ones?

CarNoob 11th June 2014 08:59

Europa spares ltd

That will be the technique for getting in the car...

CarNoob 20th June 2014 12:35

I'm thinking small trampette on the back to get in. ejector seat to get out other ideas spring to mind http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=9PNMHQltThs

davecymru 20th June 2014 18:44

I like that recessed filler idea! I'm not sure what i'm going to do this time around yet, so i may add this to my list of "stuff to ponder" :)

Is that a drain hole i can see drilled in it, in the 2nd pic?
I only ask as i got caught out a few times in the rain in my old Sammio and quickly learnt where i "should" have drilled drain holes :)

CarNoob 20th June 2014 22:40

Not that I intend driving in the rain but yes drain hole seemed like a good idea can't imagine scooping out stagnant water. Borrowed friends mig today so hope to finish bulkhead this week end.

CarNoob 22nd June 2014 16:53

made a template bent and fitted
http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9d427ebe.jpg

then tried out the Mig welder
http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps38200965.jpg
Not bad for a first attempt welding with a mig good penetration and passed the hammer test :smash:

Paul L 22nd June 2014 17:40

It is amazing just how many of us have learnt to weld in order to build our kits.

Good luck with the rest of it, Paul. :)

CarNoob 23rd June 2014 12:18

Thanks Paul. must admit making bits for the car is really enjoyable. But the wife wants me to spend more time at home to redecorate!:bolt:

finally found a connector for the phone and computer. the problem with reading everyone progress is it makes you want to alter things!

CarNoob 5th November 2014 21:05

why do i keep thinking about doors, perhaps on the next car

http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/...ps81cc8571.jpg

garyh 6th November 2014 07:40

What did you use to fill the bits in? Bitumen...

CarNoob 6th November 2014 08:09

 Yes looks like that. I bought some black resin colouring a small amount colours 5ltrs

Mister Towed 6th November 2014 12:13

No doors, no problem.

Once these cars are painted and racing roundels are attached the expanse of 'side' is broken up sufficiently that nobody notices the lack of doors.

http://i1301.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4851b00d.jpg

Getting in and out is very straightforward and there were no weeks of wasted effort faffing about trying to get the doors to fit.

davecymru 6th November 2014 12:51

I agree with Towed about the doors, but then again i was of the same thinking as you when i was building my Spyder, which is one of the reasons i went for the Miglia this time around as i want to play with doors! :)

The only problem i ever had with no-doors was how much i killed my old drivers seat during my year of driving it! So i'll be interesting to do a compare-n-contrast in a few months :)
